If you have been diagnosed with diabetes, it is important that you become familiar with the different the options available for dealing with the disease. The main goal of any kind of therapy is to keep your blood sugar within acceptable limits,this is the golden rule.

You may have several options for doing this: by taking drugs orally or by injecting insulin, establishing an appropriate diet and sticking to along with following a regular exercise program to help keep your weight in check and to help maintain adequate blood circulation. Being overweight is an absolute no no for people suffering from diabetes.

While most people suffering from type 1 diabetes need life-long daily insulin injections, some types of type 2 diabetes can be controlled by diet and exercise alone. A diabetic diet is high in fiber and low in sugar, fat and carbohydrates to prevent blood sugar levels spiking after meals. Alcohol should only be consumed in moderation or better still, should be avoided completely.

Additionally, it is very important that you monitor your sugar level on a regular basis, at least once a day, with a blood glucose meter to make sure your medication and diet are effective.

If you feel overwhelmed or insecure, a Diabetes Coach, might be helpful for you. These people are trained to review your individual case and provide advice to you on everything you need to know, whether it' a diet change, or medication, or which kind and how much exercise is good for you.

To complement medication and lifestyle changes, support can also come via other diabetes sufferers who share knowledge, understanding and experience in special support groups.

No More High Blood Pressure

I have taken your advice, though I admit I do not follow it completely. However, I have been drinking water with pH drops added, and taking your pHour salts twice a day. Also, I eat a lot less meat than i used to, and I'm all organic, or at least most of the time. Just these things have resulted in a vast improvement in my health.

My scary angina episodes have completely vanished. My heart palpatations (which was almost every day) have vanished. My blood pressure (without exercising) has dropped from 150/96 to 125/76 (in about three weeks of being on this new diet and salts and pH water), and most importantly, I used to get about thee migraines per week, now it's only about one per month, and where these used to be unhelpable with excedrin, now two excedrins and the pHour salts remove the pain, and now my life is virtually pain free, where it used to be that any day I was without pain, was a unique day in my life, now it is the norm. Also noticeable is the tinnitus I used to have 24/7, very annoying, has subsided to a much less annoying level to where I hardly notice it.

Another thing I noticed. I work as a wedding photographer, and I could never stand on my feet for more than two hours without needing to sit down for a spell because of back pain. Yesterday, I was on my feet for six hours straight before I noticed a mild back pain, so my back is getting better.

I have lost about 20 lbs. Now all I've got to do is start exercising, and I know my health will get even better.

Anger Really Can Kill You!

Anger and other strong acidic emotions can trigger potentially deadly heart rhythms in certain vulnerable people, U.S. researchers said on Monday.

Previous studies have shown that earthquakes, war or even the loss of a World Cup Soccer match can increase rates of death from sudden cardiac arrest, in which the heart stops circulating blood.

"It's definitely been shown in all different ways that when you put a whole population under a stressor that sudden death will increase," said Dr. Rachel Lampert of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, whose study appears in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

"Our study starts to look at how does this really affect the electrical system of the heart," Lampert said.

She and colleagues studied 62 patients with heart disease and implantable heart defibrillators or ICDs that can detect dangerous heart rhythms or arrhythmias and deliver an electrical shock to restore a normal heart beat.

"These were people we know already had some vulnerability to arrhythmia," stated Lampert.

Patients in the study took part in an exercise in which they recounted a recent angry episode while Lampert's team did a test called T-Wave Alternans that measures electrical instability in the heart.

Lampert said the team specifically asked questions to get people to relive the angry episode. "We found in the lab setting that yes, anger did increase this electrical instability in these patients," she said.

Next, they followed patients for three years to see which patients later had a cardiac arrest and needed a shock from their implantable defibrillator.

"The people who had the highest anger-induced electrical instability were 10 times more likely than everyone else to have an arrhythmia in follow-up," she said.

Lampert said the study suggests that anger can be deadly, at least for people who are already vulnerable to this type of electrical disturbance in the heart.

"It says yes, anger really does impact the heart's electrical system in very specific ways that can lead to sudden death," she said.

But she cautioned against extrapolating the results to people with normal hearts. "How anger and stress may impact people whose hearts are normal is likely very different from how it may impact the heart which has structural abnormalities," she said.

Lampert is now conducting a study to see if anger management classes can help decrease the risk of arrhythmia in this group of at-risk patients.

Sudden cardiac death accounts for more than 400,000 deaths each year in the United States, according to the American College of Cardiology.

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of Research at the pH Miracle Living Center, "anger is energy in motion or E-motion that can require the consumption of a high level of cellular energy and as a result produce a high level of acidic waste that can cause electrical instability in the heart leading to arrhythmia and sudden cardiac arrest."

26 Ways To Prevent and/or Reverse An Acidic Cancerous Condition

The Benefits of Cinnamon For Type I and Type II Diabetics

Ingesting the spice led to reductions in blood insulin levels, the hormone responsible for controlling acidic blood sugar levels, and increased levels of a peptide reported to work by delaying the emptying of the stomach (gastric emptying), according to results of a small study involving 15 people.

Despite the increases in glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), no effects on gastric emptying, feelings of satiety, or changes in blood sugar levels were reported. The results are published in the new issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.

"Our finding that cinnamon decreases the insulin demand, despite the lack of change in blood glucose concentrations, was probably due to enhanced glucose uptake via stimulation of the insulin receptor," wrote the researchers, led by Joanna Hlebowicz from Malmo University Hospital.

The study adds to a growing body of research reporting that active compounds in cinnamon may improve parameters associated with diabetes. Indeed, the same researchers reported in the same journal in 2007 that consumption of 6 g cinnamon led to a decreased rate of gastric emptying.

Taking into account the earlier studies, Hlebowicz and her co-workers added: "Higher doses of cinnamon are apparently required to influence GER and postprandial blood glucose concentrations."

The researchers measured the rate of stomach emptying (gastric emptying rate) in 14 healthy subjects with normal fasting blood glucose levels after consuming 300 grams of rice pudding or 300 g rice pudding plus 6 g cinnamon.

Study details

The Scandinavian researchers recruited 15 health subjects (nine men) with an average age of 24.6, an average BMI of 22.5 kg/m2, and with no history of diabetes, and assigned them to randomly consume 300 grams of rice pudding with zero, one or three grams of cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia; Santa Maria AB, Sweden) added. All of the participants consumed all the meals in a random order, with one week between each.

No significant effects on the rate of gastric emptying, levels of satiety, and blood glucose levels were reported. However, the insulin response one and two hours after the meal with three grams of the spice was significantly lower than levels after consuming the control meal.

Furthermore, the change in GLP-1 response was significantly higher after ingestion of the pudding with three grams of cinnamon, compared to the control meal, said the researchers.

"There seems to be a relation between the amount of cinnamon consumed, the delay in gastric emptying, and the reduction in postprandial blood glucose concentrations," wrote the researchers.

"The previously described reduction in postprandial blood glucose concentrations after the ingestion of six grams of cinnamon was much more noticeable than was the lowering of GER," they added.

"Gastric emptying, as well as other factors, regulates the postprandial blood glucose response, and a delay in gastric emptying leads to a lower postprandial blood glucose concentration."

Cinnamon and diabetes

According to Dr. Robert O.
