For the icing - Prepare the pudding mix according to the directions on the pudding mix box. Stir the pudding, cool whip and drained crushed pineapple together. Ice the cake and store in the refrigerator.

Nutritional Steps to Help Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Posted by luputtenan2

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive, degenerative condition which affects the nervous system. Multiple sclerosis (MS) destroys the myelin sheaths surrounding nerves in the brain and spinal cord, the myelin sheaths are needed to protect these vital nerves which are responsible for the effective transmission of nerve impulses. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is thought to be an autoimmune disease which symptoms tend to vary between mild to severe, a host of causes such as genetic susceptibility, environmental toxins, living in a temperate climate, diet and the Epstein-Barr virus have all been linked to Multiple sclerosis (MS). The fact is the real cause of multiple sclerosis (MS) is unknown. The most common symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS) is numbness and tingling in the hand and toes, one side of the face and trunk of the body, loss of coordination in the hands or legs, weakness in the muscles, problems with eyesight, problems with walking, loss of bladder control, tiredness in the limbs, mood swings, slurred speech, clumsiness and loss of bowel control.
Diet change can help with multiple sclerosis (MS); studies have shown that levels of linoleic acid which is an essential fatty acid is low in individuals who suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS). Eating oily fish such as mackerel, salmon, trout, sardines and tuna, eating more seeds and nuts, using extra-virgin olive oil for cooking and taking high doses of evening primrose oil supplements should help with multiple sclerosis (MS). Reports from Dr. Roy Swank suggest that a low-fat diet is beneficial to those who are suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS). Other studies have also shown that multiple sclerosis (MS) suffers who had large amounts of saturated animal fats in their diet died from the disease earlier than those who had low amounts of saturated fats. Another report found that those who eat plenty of fish and vegetables and fruit were less likely to get multiple sclerosis (MS) and suffered less if they already had it. All these reports suggest that a vegetarian type diet with plenty of oily fish is the best diet for those who are suffering from Multiple sclerosis (MS).
Toxins have been linked to multiple sclerosis (MS) especially mercury, if you suffer from multiple sclerosis (MS) and have amalgams fillings it may be wise to get a specialist dentist who is an expert in removing amalgams filling to remove yours. Other environmental toxins which have been linked to multiple sclerosis (MS) are tobacco smoke, insecticides and organic solvents.
If you are suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) the best supplement to take are evening primrose oil, selenium, magnesium, manganese, vitamin B complex, vitamin C, vitamin E, black cohosh, Echinacea, ginseng, St John’s Wort and valerian.
The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
Black cohosh
Calcium
Echinacea
Evening primrose oil
Fish oil
Ginkgo biloba
Ginseng
Inosine
Linoleic acid
Magnesium
Manganese
Multivitamin and multiminerals
Niacin
Selenium
St John’s Wort
Thiamine
Valerian
Vitamin B complex
Vitamin C
Vitamin D
Vitamin E

Find Health Food Sources In Your Town

Posted by luputtenan2

Many individuals are striving to live a healthier lifestyle by including wholesome, natural foods in the diet but have a difficult time finding appropriate health food sources in their town.
If you find yourself in this situation, do not think you need to have a whole foods market or organic farm in your town to change your eating style, overall sense of health, and your entire lifestyle.
Look to your local grocery stores, farmer’s markets, and even your own backyard to find fabulous health food sources within an arm’s reach.
Also, check out a variety of popular websites on the World Wide Web that cater to individuals seeking healthy options to their favorite foods.
Many individuals will be pleasantly surprised with the amount of health food sources they never knew existed!
For example, a visit to your local grocery store can open doors you never knew existed.
You must start looking at foods in a different light. Just because something is branded “diet” or “light” does not necessarily mean it is appropriate for you.
The best way to utilize your local grocery store is to only use items found on the store’s perimeter.
Usually, the store’s perimeter houses the fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy items.
The more you can avoid boxed items, prepackaged, or frozen items, the better off your will be on your new healthy lifestyle. Exchange fresh fruit for those sugary cookies or candies.
Eat crisp, crunch vegetables instead of those greasy chips.
There are a variety of clever supplements you can use to substitute your favorite foods into your new lifestyle.
Speaking of supplements, consider asking your doctor about an appropriate multivitamin to further boost the nutrition your body receives on a daily basis.
Many individuals find they need to take a multivitamin, or specific vitamins, since their bodies do not receive the daily recommended amount set by the Food and Drug Administration.
Even though you eat a healthy and well balanced diet, your body may not receive the proper amount of nutrients, so speak with your primary health care provider immediately.
Also, work to include nutrient rich fruit and vegetables into your diet to consume as many vitamins as possible naturally.

Traditional Cajun Chicken Wings

Posted by luputtenan2 on Tuesday, November 29, 2005

According to the late great novelist Mark Twain, "New Orleans food is as delicious as the less criminal forms of sin". See what exactly Mr Twain meant by cooking up a veritable storm with my traditional Cajun Chicken Wing recipe featured below!
CAJUN CHICKEN WINGS
12 Chicken wings -- tips removed
5 Bay leaves -- crumbled into bits
3/4 teaspoon Caraway seeds
1/2 To 3/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
3/4 teaspoon Ground cumin
3/4 teaspoon Ground coriander
4 Garlic cloves -- finely
1 1/2 teaspoons Dry mustard
2 teaspoons Paprika -- preferably
3/4 teaspoon Dried thyme leaves
1/2 teaspoon Salt
2 tablespoons Brandy
2 tablespoons Fresh lemon or lime juice
Defat the chicken wings by cooking them in boiling water for 10 minutes. Drain and set aside to cool. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Using a large mortar and pestle, grind together the bay leaf bits, caraway seeds, cayenne pepper, coriander, cumin, garlic, mustard, paprika, thyme and salt for about 10 minutes. Add the brandy and lemon or lime juice to the pulverized herbs and stir into a thick paste. With a pastry brush, cover both sides of each wing with the herb paste. When no more remains in the mortar, squeeze the last few drops from the brush. Arrange the chicken wings on a baking sheet. Bake until the skin turns deep brown and is quite crisp approximately 30 minutes. Takes about an hour to prepare.

Choosing Wine on a First Date

Posted by luputtenan2

First dates are nerve wracking enough without having to worry about what wine to choose to impress your new friend!
One of the great things about wine on a date is that one bottle is a defined amount, normally about five glasses. If shared equally it is unlikely that you will fall off your chair drunk after half a bottle of wine!
However, there are some other social sins that can be committed whilst choosing wine on a date.
Getting Started
First, you need to decide whether you want white, red, rosé or sparkling wine. This is perhaps the most important decision. As a general rule, red wine is more of an acquired taste and it can be harder to select a good red. Therefore, when you do not know your companion's tastes it may be wise to steer clear of the red wine section.
Sparkling wine can make you appear a little pretentious or if you go for a cheaper version, a tightwad; so this is usually best avoided. If you are not sure whether your companion likes wine at all, rosé wine is often a safe option as it often lacks the sharpness that people commonly dislike in wines.
How Much to Spend?
Remember more money doesn't always mean more quality. If you are very new to wine, go for a house white. A house white is unlikely to be extremely imaginative or unusual, but is almost always perfectly drinkable. For this reason it is a safe, middle of the road option.
If you want to impress, look for something other than the house white. Keep away from extremes until you know your companion a little better, so don't go for bone dry whites. Instead, opt for a fruity dry wine that appeals to those who like both dry and medium whites.
Whilst neutral wines may seem like a bit of a cop-out, bear in mind that you simply want a drinkable wine that does not offend.
If you are really not sure what to choose, why not offer your companion a choice of glasses as an aperitif while you have a beer or spirit. This way you can judge your companion's taste. Even if they select a spirit, you can still get a measure of whether they prefer sweet or dry wines.
Of course, you could always give your companion the choice…

Cooking with Green Tea

Posted by luputtenan2

Recently it has become popular to cook with green tea. In powder and liquid form it’s so easy to use, delicious and good for you it’s really no surprise. You may ask why people would try to cook with such a thing. Well green tea is filled with a wide array of health benefits. It lowers cholesterol, is high in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. In fact most Asian countries have used green tea for cooking purposes for these very reasons. The other reason would be flavor. Green tea has a very distinct flavor that many enjoy and cannot be easily emulated by anything but green tea itself.
So now the big question, “How do I cook with green tea?” Well as I said earlier it’s really very easy to do. A very simple way is to substitute the water in a recipe with brewed green tea (at room temperature or as specified by the recipe). This is probably the best way for someone who is experimenting with a recipe or this style of cooking. When you do this keep in mind that you want the green tea to be strong. The stronger the tea is the more flavor and color will remain in the end product. This is why loose leaf tea is generally recommended.
You may also just want to look for green tea recipes. I see new ones popping up every day. Simply go online and search for “green tea” and your favorite recipe. You may be surprised to find several already available.
A lot of green tea recipes will ask for green tea powder or matcha. This is ground up green tea leaves. Matcha specifically is ground up Gyokuro leaves and is used for tea ceremony purposes. You will find matcha generally more expensive than green tea powder, which can be made from almost any green tea. However you may find matcha worth the extra price for those specially recipes.
If you have never done it, I recommend buying green tea powder or matcha and trying it on some of your favorite recipes. You will find it amazing how much color and flavor one teaspoon of this stuff can provide.

A Pill Can Heal Your Sexual Life

Posted by luputtenan2 on Monday, November 28, 2005

Sex unarguably is one of the best gifts of nature, and to betray sex is equivalent to betraying nature itself.
Paradise lost but sex gained, consumption of the forbidden apple by Adam is the best thing that has ever happened to the human kind. Believe me, Adams sin has given us one of the most desired obsessions, no matter what the holy books say, no matter what the preachers teach but at the back of our mind all of us love sex and always fantasize to be a part of it.
The level of excitement and satisfaction that it provides is incomparable; it relieves us from a hell lot of pressure and rejuvenates our mind, body and soul. Sex is not only good; it is good for our health.
Man has always strived to achieve a better performance in order to satiate his as well his partner's sexual urge but however hard he has tried frequent satisfactory sex still remains a day dream for most of the people. Age, hormonal imbalances, society, money and many other things have not been able to remain a barrier for long in this quest but one factor which has been hurting the sexual life of millions around the world is Erectile Dysfunction.
Erectile dysfunction may be defined as the inability of the person to either initiate or sustain a penile erection till the time period compulsory attain a sexual gratification. The causes of it may be many for e.g. psychological, hormonal, arterial or muscular. The diseases associated with it are Diabetes Mellitus, Major Depression, certain thrombotic disorders, etc.
Traditionally a lot of ways were applied for the treatment of ED but all of them were embarrassing and the chances of success were also doubtful. Than came the magical blue pill Viagra, launched in 1998 it was an instant success. Nobody has ever thought that erection could be achieved by taking a simple pill; Viagra literally dominated the erectile Dysfunction market.
But the perilous side effects and the fact that Viagra's effect lasted for 4 hours lead to a demand for something less hap-hazardous and more durable. This led to the birth of Cialis, the basics remained the same but Cialis had less side effects and its durability was an astounding 36 hours.
Cialis is safe and gentle ways to re- ignite the desire, the excitement and the sexual response that make sex wonderful and rewarding. It works by inhibiting an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 which release Nitric Oxide from nerve endings and endothelium causing relaxation of smooth muscle and hence penile erection. Cialis is available in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg tablets; the maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day.
If a pill can do it for you, why not try it instead of facing embarrassment and living in isolation. Do not think, just go for Cialis and re ignite yours as well as your partner's sexual life.

Criteria for How to Select and Choose a Great Massage Therapist

Posted by luputtenan2

Massage therapy spans a wide variety of therapeutic approaches, working to improve an individual’s health and well-being through the hands-on manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues of the body. Doctors are increasingly recommending it to their patients for stress relief.
Additionally, it is being used as part of treatment programs for many medical conditions, including chronic pain. Many businesses are now seeing its potential to boost worker productivity, help morale, and decrease the number of days that employees miss work. Public interest in complementary therapies has helped many consumers to try massage.
It is not commonly known, but in many states, individuals with no training at all can open massage businesses, so long as they do not refer to themselves as certified or licensed, or otherwise falsely represent themselves. So how do you find a good legitimate massage therapist? Personal referrals from friends or healthcare providers are a great way to find a massage therapist. You can also look one up in the Yellow Pages or online, but make sure you talk with them on the phone or via email before going for your session.
A therapist’s most important concern should be that you are pleased with your experience. So when you go to look for a therapist, and to ensure that your expectations are met, open a line of communication between you and your potential MT. A therapist should want to share information about their businesses and should therefore welcome any questions you may have.
If you have never had a massage before, you could be nervous and not know what to expect. Asking questions can help you to be more relaxed which will make your first massage experience even more enjoyable.
Questions to ask a therapist
What certifications do you hold?
Are you state and nationally certified? (NCTBMB Certification) (Since there is not yet standardization in this industry, many aren’t nationally certified. This does not necessarily mean that they are not qualified.)
How long have you been practicing massage?
Do you give discounts if I refer people who I know to you?
What kind of oils, creams, products, etc. do you use?
Do you use a drape while massaging? (ie. A sheet or other covering for the client)
What kind of training have you had?
What types of massage will you be using?
What are your prices? Do you have any specials, packages, or discounts?
Do you sell the products you use?
How long will the session last?
What kind of payments do you accept? cash, check, credit card?
How can I make an appointment?
Do you have references?
What to Expect to Pay
Just like most service-related industries, the price of massage varies and is determined by demand, location, type of experience, and experience of the therapist. Within a local area, the price for a massage can vary greatly. Some therapists offer shorter massages at discount prices, but to get the most out of a massage, don't try to find the best deal.
There is no set price for a massage. The range for a one-person massage at present is between $25 and $85/hour for a therapeutic massage. The average price in Denver, Colorado seems to be about $55/hour. The price will generally be less if the therapist has less experience. Massage will also, on the average, be less expensive in rural areas and more expensive in larger cities.
Expect to pay more in most day spas. The treatment you get often involves more than a massage session. You can often get a facial, manicure, pedicure, body wrap, skin peel, etc. Many of the massage therapists in day spas are actually employees of the spas and receive a percentage of the amount you pay to the spa. Day spas generally start at $60 for an hour massage and go up, depending on what is included, demand, location, etc.
Many therapists offer specials. Ask about these. Ask as many questions of your therapist as you want to be sure your expectations are met. Some therapists will offer an introductory massage while others have discounts for buying a package of sessions. It never hurts to ask.
Legitimate massage therapists are professionals. Many hours of training and practice allow them to offer an incredible service to you. If you are satisfied with your massage, tipping or offering a little extra will show how much you enjoyed the experience. Also, giving positive feedback can help the therapist to reach more people and become more successful.
What you want to consider post-massage
Following your massage, evaluate what the session felt like, how you felt after the session, etc. Personality fit is important when choosing a massage therapist, as is trust. You should feel confident in and comfortable with the massage therapist. Massage therapists use a variety of techniques, so you may need to try a few different practitioners to find one that fits your needs.

Women and Weights

Posted by luputtenan2

So ladies, what can weight training do for you? Weight training will give you near-perfect symmetry and put curves and definition in all the right places. Muscle is firm and toned, not soft and mushy. It gives you strength, health, vitality and a beautiful body. Also, weight training will decrease your chance of injuries in everyday life and recreational activities. Weight training improves work, sleep, endurance, sex and many other areas of your life.
Ladies TrainingTraining for ladies shouldn't differ that much from men's training. We have the same number of muscles and they contact in the same fashion. The only difference between men and women are hormones. Men naturally have higher levels of testosterone, a muscle-building hormone, while women are constantly fighting the estrogen issue, a fat storing hormone. Now I'm not saying that just because you are female and have higher levels of estrogen you are doomed to gain weight. What I'm saying is that we can use what we have to our advantage. Regular weight training will build lean body mass. The more body lean body mass you acquire, the higher you raise your metabolism. An increased metabolism results in more calories burned per minute. Sounds interesting? Read on....
Muscle vs. FatA statement I hear a lot is that muscle weighs more than fat. The fact of the matter is that a pound of muscle and a pound of fat weigh the same, a pound. A pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat does. Muscle allows you to eat more food without getting fat because muscle is the only body material that is metabolically active. Once you put muscle on your body you will burn an additional twenty to thirty calories an hour. Bodybuilders actually burn fifty to seventy-five additional calories per hour.
Muscle Turns to Fat?A misconception that I hear many women saying is that they don't want to workout because if they stop the muscle will turn to fat. Now, let's analyze this statement. People begin resistance training program in order to rid the body of fat, not to gain it. Muscle can't turn into fat any more than fat can turn to muscle. Muscle (metabolically active) and fat (metabolically inactive) are two completely different tissues responsible for their own functions. Just as your heart and liver are two different organs performing completely different functions, the same goes for muscle and fat. Now I ask you, can your heart turn into your liver, or vise versa? If there were any truth to the above statement there would be a lot of people out there with great muscle potential, if you catch my drift.
An explanation to the above myth is that some bodybuilders do gain extra weight off-season in preparation for the up coming competitive season. Many veterans of bodybuilding gain weight when they get older or retire, how does that differ from the average American? There is a biological reason for the weight gain. The metabolism slows down as we age, meaning the body needs fewer calories per day to maintain itself. The downfall is that most people, including bodybuilders, don't reduce their caloric intake to compensate for this slowdown and the end result is fat gain.
Another explanation is that bodybuilders, in hard training, develop enormous appetites and need the extra calories for muscle growth and repair. If the intake stays the same when training volume is reduced or ceased, the unburned calories get stored as fat; again, this is no different than the average American.
Stop Making ExcusesSimply put, stop making excuses. Not exercising is far more harmful to your body, image, and health than working out. Exercising and nutrition is a learned lifestyle, if you are not consistent with it you will decrease muscle and increase fat, but muscle definitely will never turn into fat.

Weight Loss Tips

Posted by luputtenan2 on Sunday, November 27, 2005

I had been overweight my entire life. I have tried to changed my live as well and now I’m successful. What I have been done ? It’s began 3 years ago. I have changed my thinking on my life. I stopped to use my favorite sentence that tomorrow I'll do something about my weight and I became aware that this is my last chance to change my visage.
Here is why we gain weight and my suggestion to reverse it
When we are nervous, we eat. Don’t tense. When we celebrate something with friends, we eat. Let’s celebrate in temperance. When we watch TV, what do we do ? We eat and eat. Hard nut to crack ? Once we sad, we eat When we see to smoke somebody, we take something to eat We need to ask ourselves some questions that may help solve a problem:
I thought about loss weight but then I didn't. Why does this happen? ? Mostly it's because you really do want to eat the sweet. Do I really need this cookie/cake/ice cream right now or am I pacifying something that is not going right for me, right now. What in my life would I like to change, right now? Why do I want to change it? What will these changes bring about, either now or in the near future It's always easier to put weight loss off for one more day.
People who have successfully achieved their ideal weight and better health without dieting report the following success strategies :
They made a commitment to changing habits long-term vs. just losing weight They became educated about sound nutrition principles They learned to cope with emotions and stress without food They consciously eat when their hungry and stop when their full They shift the focus from “looking good” to honoring their health and well-being They learn to adjust portions or food intake to match activity level They don’t sabotage themselves, when they blow it They seek ongoing support as needed to stay motivated For me when I'm busy and trying to get a lot of work done and something stumps me or requires extra thought, my tendency is to want to take a break and get something to chew on. That might be true for you too. I haven't worked directly on the anxious feelings themselves, just the end result of wanting to eat something. Every time I've tried it, I've ended up not wanting what I was going to eat in the first place so personally I'd say it is very effective.

Want to lose Weight? Be a Good Owner!

Posted by luputtenan2 on Saturday, November 26, 2005

If you had a dog and didn't treat it well - you starved it on some days, overfed it on others, gave it far too many doggie treats and not enough doggie nourishment or water, kept it indoors in front of the TV and gave it no exercise, berated it for being lazy and fat - how would you feel about yourself as a dog owner?
Would you say you were negligent? Would you expect the animal welfare people to be keeping an eye on you?
You'd feel bad about that, right?
But when it comes to you, how do you treat yourself? Are you like the bad doggie owner?
  • Do you give yourself the right food and exercise?
  • Do you give yourself enough fresh air and water?
  • Do you get all the vitamins you need?
  • Do you give yourself enough gentle encouragement and pats on the back?Would you say your health and well-being are worth as much as any dog's?
Of course they are!
Somehow, because we are responsible for our own health we think it's Ok to be neglect ourselves. At least we think it's Ok until something goes wrong - until we get to the stage where we hate our shape, we have heart problems, we can't get around so easily or whatever.
And then we struggle with changing our diet and our way of life because those old ways have become a comfortable habit.
But you CAN switch to being a "good owner" if you think your body and your health are worth it.
And not just for a few weeks or months while you get in shape but permanently so that you never have to think about it again.
Like a dog, you can't just retrain yourself overnight by switching your routine - you have to relearn new habits so that the whole process becomes automatic and as comfortable as your old way of living. But they can be learnt without too much effort. It takes just 21 days to learn a new habit.
And the rewards are huge - the difference between a happy dog, full of energy with a wagging tail and an overweight snarling miserable dog lying in its basket all day is really just a few new habits away.
Which habits will you start to change today?

Vitamin K

Posted by luputtenan2 on Friday, November 25, 2005

It’s green, it’s valuable, and it can vastly improve your quality of living.
One more hint: It’s not money!!!
No, this stuff actually does grow on trees.
It’s called Vitamin K and although you don’t hear about it as often as the standard A-through-E vitamins, researchers are discovering more and more of its invaluable functions.
Vitamin K will provide you with health rather than wealth, but there’s no mistaking that it’s loaded with benefits. Aside from its many already proven functions, researchers now believe that Vitamin K prevents osteoporosis, the disease that weakens the bones, a function that until now seemed primarily in calcium’s hands.
The fat-soluble vitamin is essential for many suffering health problems, particularly those experiencing birth complications or bleeding disorders. Vitamin K has been linked to growth and development of the new-born and has also aided those with intestinal malfunctions and those who suffer frequent nosebleeds and excessive bleeding.
Everybody needs Vitamin K in his or her system. Deficiency in this vitamin will effect the development process of infants, leading to problems like Hemorrhagic disease, which is characterized by abnormal bleeding through the intestines or umbilical cord.
In adults, these deficiencies lead to severe blood clotting, particularly in the stomach, and can lead to considerable intestinal complications.
Vitamin K is most commonly found in green leaf-like sources like spinach, green tea, cabbage, turnip greens, and brussels sprouts. Others like alfalfa, soybeans, cheddar cheese, oats, and cauliflower are also rich on the vitamin. So if you’re a big salad eater, chances are that you’re getting a very healthy dose of Vitamin K.
But overdoses in Vitamin K, which are extremely rare, have been linked to brain damage in infants and liver malfunctions in adults.
Aside from the aforementioned natural sources, Vitamin K is also available in tablets and should be taken with meals or an hour after completion of a meal.

The Perfect Holiday Gift: A Day at the Spa

Posted by luputtenan2

Spa gift certificates are becoming more and more popular and are right at the top of holiday wish lists for both men and women. Spas offer stress-relief, pampering, and results. Spa gift certificates are a wonderful way to show friends, family, employees, or the one you love, how much you care.
When selecting a spa gift certificate, consider the following:
Visiting the web site of a spa can give you an idea of the spa’s environment, their experience, and philosophy. The spa experience begins when a guest enters the door. By taking a virtual tour, you can get an idea of what the experience will be.
Spa gift certificates are available in either dollar amounts or by custom designed treatments and packages. A spa can assist you in selecting the ideal gift package from a foot fantasy to the world's best day spa experience.
Some of the best gifts are things that one would typically not consider purchasing for themselves. A popular trend today is treatments using more than one therapist. There is nothing quite like a facial (which includes a massage of the face, neck, shoulders, upper back, hands and arms) combined with a second therapist simultaneously massaging the feet with both hands and hot stones. This type of treatment is absolutely decadent and can be surprisingly affordable. At upscale spa, a Foot Fantasy can be combined with almost any treatment. This is a heavenly experience with a skilled therapist providing both a manual and hot stone massage using essential oils and a warm parrafin dip.
When considering a spa service for a man, be sure the environment is comfortable for a gentleman. Overstuffed sofas, needlepoint wall hangings, and especially co-ed waiting areas can be very intimidating to men. Instead, look for an upscale, contemporary environment with privacy.
Ask about gift certificate delivery. For those of us who wait until the last minute, gift certificates that can be purchased over the phone can be a big help. In most cases, gift certificates can even be emailed to ensure “on-time” delivery.
Be sure to ask the spa’s policy on aestheticians (facialists) leaving the room during a treatment. The therapist should be in the room at all times delivering pampering, relaxation, and results. A client who is left alone can feel forgotten and uneasy and certainly they are not getting the best treatment possible.
Adding some products to a gift certificate can enhance the spa experience. Aromatherapy candles, essential oils, soaps, shower gels, and luxurious massage cream can make for a romantic spa experience for a couple to share at home.
Websites such as www.spafinder.com or www.spaindex.com can be helpful in finding the ideal day spa in your area. If the goal is to provide a gift that incorporates the ultimate in relaxation and results, a medical spa might be the ideal choice. Key words such as "medical spa" or "plastic surgery medical spa" and your city entered into a search engine will give you results of medical spas in your region.

Anti-Aging Skin Care Secrets & Solutions

Posted by luputtenan2 on Thursday, November 24, 2005

Anti-aging skin care is simple. But there are steps you'll need to take. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and the only one exposed to the elements. It’s also the only one exposed to the view of others, so you’ll want to make sure it ages as slowly as possible.
As time goes by, your skin tends to get thinner, dryer, more wrinkled and, eventually, age spots may appear. Although you can’t stop the process, you can slow it down dramatically. Besides using high quality skin care (mild cleansers and effective moisturizers), there are two other secrets to your skin’s fountain of youth.
Since “garbage in, garbage out” applies to your body as well as your computer, healthy skin requires a healthy diet. Reduce your over all fats to under 30%, replacing processed and saturated “bad” fats with “good’ essential fatty acids. Eliminate sweets and other processed carbohydrates and add more whole grains and carotenoid rich fruits and vegetables. Exercise carries the essential nutrients to your cells and eight glasses of water a day keeps cells hydrated and flushes out harmful toxins.
Carotenoids are a family of phytonutrients that have been proven over and over again to protect human cells from oxidative free-radical damage - one of the major causes of skin aging. That’s why the National Institutes of Health recommends eating nine daily servings of brightly colored fruits and vegetables – peaches, strawberries, broccoli, etc. rather than iceberg lettuce, bananas and French fries. To make sure you’re getting optimum skin benefits, a good whole food carotenoid supplement will help.
The other important guideline for anti-aging skin care is to avoid sun exposure. Just driving with your arm out the window of your car can cause sun damage and accelerate aging. So get UV tinting on your car windows and keep your arm inside. Wear sunglasses, a hat, long sleeves and long pants and always use sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 15.
Carotenoids have also been found to help prevent sunburn, so get more into your diet. Years from now, your magic mirror on the wall will confirm that you’ll be glad you did.

Why People Become Vegetarians

Posted by luputtenan2

Many nonvegetarians wonder what drives vegetarians to give up meat and adopt an entirely different lifestyle. There is no single answer to this question. Nonvegetarians become vegetarians for a number of different reasons - some even for multiple reasons.
Most vegetarians claim that they became a vegetarian for one of three reasons.
The first reason, which most vegetarians claim, is that they have ethical problems with eating meat. Most disagree with how chickens are debeaked, forced to live in small cages, and are then slaughtered when they do not produce eggs fast enough.
Most vegetarians also disagree with the crowded and stressful environments animals are forced into; and the hormone-laden feed used to make them grow faster and produce more.
People who become vegetarians for this purpose often draw ethical boundaries in different spots, depending on their personal beliefs. For instance, some staunch vegans wont consume yeast, wear wool, or even eat certain vegetables, such as carrots, that require killing the plant to harvest.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, some vegetarians-- sometimes referred to as pseudo-vegetarians--will actually eat fish and chicken on a regular basis.
The second biggest reason vegetarians claim for not eating meat is that it conflicts with their dietary preferences. Some of these vegetarians simply do not like the texture and taste of meat; others do not eat it because it is high in cholesterol and often contains high concentrations of hormones and preservatives.
The third and smallest group of vegetarians cite environmental reasons for not consuming meat. They complain that consumption of meat causes farmers to continually deforest land to create grazing land for cattle.
In addition to these three major groups, there are a number of other smaller groups of vegetarians who stopped eating meat for entirely different reasons.

Combating Flu Naturally

Posted by luputtenan2

Influenza commonly known as flu is a viral disease which affects the respiratory system. It is contagious and is spread rapidly through the air via coughs and sneezes. Typical symptoms of influenza (flu) are often rapid and intense and are fever, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, dry cough, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, chills, loss of appetite, eye pain, sneezing and a running nose. Tiredness, depression and weakness may last for several weeks after the main symptoms. Symptoms typically last for days, sometimes weeks and generally make you feel knocked out, influenza (flu) can have serious consequences for those who have a weak immune system such as the elderly, children and cancer, chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes, kidney disease and AIDS suffers. Those people who are in the ‘at rise’ group should get a flu jab in the winter months when influenza (flu) is more prevalent.
To prevent flu try to keep your immune system healthy by eating plenty of vegetables and fruit, whole foods, drink plenty of mineral water, avoid alcohol and smoking and try to avoid stress. If you are unlucky enough to get flu, keep warm, get plenty of bed rest in a well ventilated area and drink plenty of warm fluids such as soup. The best supplements to take are those which will boost your immune system such as vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, zinc lozenges, Echinacea, Siberian ginseng and grape seed extracts.
The following supplements may help if you are suffering from Influenza (flu).
Echinacea
Elderberry
Grape seed extracts
Multivitamin and multiminerals
Selenium
Siberian ginseng
Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Zinc lozenges

Protein for Rookies

Posted by luputtenan2 on Wednesday, November 23, 2005

You`ve decided to start bodybuilding but all of these new terms seem to be in a different language. Most of us experienced bodybuilders have felt the same way at one time, so don`t give up just yet. You train hard, but you don`t know anything about proper nutrition. Getting enough protein is the most important when trying to get a good body. I am going to explain the different types of protein, what protein does for your body, and problems associated with not getting enough.
When consumed, protein turns into amino acids which become the cornerstone of muscle gain. Protein also helps you achieve muscle gain while keeping fat to a minimum. You need to space out your meals five to seven times a day to keep your metabolism at its best. Eating more meals also keeps your body in an anabolic state (meaning your body is building muscle). To keep from getting board with your diet, your meals should never be from the same protein source at back-to-back meals.
Lean proteins that are low in fat should be eaten throught the day. Good protein sources to eat throughout day include egg whites, chicken breasts, tuna, and lean steak. There are many other good sources of lean protein but those examples will give you an idea of what to eat. Post workout is the best time to consume whey protein because your body absorbs it at a much faster rate than any other type of protein. Post workout is the only time of the day you should consume whey because your body absorbs it to fast to keep you adequately energized throughout the day
The obesity epidemic would be lower if people simply started eating more protein. It doesn`t matter if you weight train or not, not getting enough will cause many health problems. A loss of muscle tissue is the main problem but don`t expect to lose any fat either. Instead, fat gain will occur because of increased cortisol levels that are associated with lack of protein. Your immune system will start deteriorating, all of your body`s cells will become weak and you will be more susceptible to illness.
Protein is important and should be at the top of everyones grocery list. If you are serious about achieving your bodybuilding or fitness goals then you will do whatever it takes to achieve them. Eating five to seven meals daily is tough at first but once you get into the habit of it, everything will becone second nature. Until next time, stay hungry.

The Healing Crisis

Posted by luputtenan2 on Tuesday, November 22, 2005

A healing crisis may occur when the vital forces within the body build up enough strength to handle detoxification. A healing crisis manifests when the body is ready. For example:
1. You have caught up on your rest.
2. You have stopped taking drugs/chemicals/alcohol and other nutrients that are not working for you.
3. You replace old and destructive eating patterns with new healthy eating patterns.
4. You have cleansed enough from your system to strengthen the nervous system or blood supply.
Eating fresh raw fruits and vegetables:
1. Improves oxygen utilization
2. Helps burn up waste products in the system
3. Stabilizes the bloods pH and makes it more alkaline. This, in turn, gives the body energy to fight off disease, so that it can detoxify and rebuild (in that order).
Note: Cooked, processed, or pasteurized fruits and vegetables are devoid of enzymes. Heat kills many vitamins. Cooked fruits will make the body more acidic. Disease only survives in acid bodies, so you really need to eat raw foods for optimal health. Consuming three servings EACH DAY of raw fruits and vegetables is the minimum for optimal health.
Hering’s law of cure: All cure comes from within the central core of your body first, then moves outward and from the top of your body, down to your feet and in reverse order in which the first symptoms occurred. Working from the head downward, one must clear old thought patterns, attitudes, and feelings and replace them with new healthier thought patterns, attitudes and feelings.
The following symptoms may occur occasionally during a healing crisis. These are a signs that "housecleaning" is occurring:
Fever, swollen limbs/face, headaches, mobilization of mucous, weakness, weight-loss, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and other digestive disorders, pains resurfacing, worsening of existing symptoms, rapid pulse, skin eruptions, and some say they feel like their world is "collapsing".
Yuk. Why would you want to feel like that!? And how do you tell if you are going through a healing crisis or just another bout of disease? Good question….Read on….
The Answer: You can only get better, permanently, by shifting back into time. Therefore, you may have to experience some uncomfortable brief symptoms. You know when you are having a healing crisis because:
1. The crisis usually lasts only one to three days. The symptoms can be so mild that you may not recognize that it is a healing crisis.
2. At the end of the healing crisis you feel much better than before the healing crisis occurred.
3. You are eating all the right things and up until the healing crisis have had a good attitude.
4. You know you are making changes in your lifestyle and are working on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your life.
5. You are mentally prepared to get through the healing.
6. You may have just pampered yourself with some kind of bodywork—this sometimes stimulates a healing crisis. This is a good thing.
If you are truly sick, the symptoms above feel awful as time progresses. The symptoms are more than transient and more than mild. In your gut you know you don’t feel right. You don’t feel that higher plane of health. See a doctor or your favorite healer for advice and drink lots of water.
I remember going through my own healing crisis. Once in college I had a pig tip a fence panel on top of my foot, breaking my big toe. I could not walk on it for more than a week and boy was it black and blue.
During one healing crisis 16 years after that incident, the same toe turned black and blue. I had not done anything to it and it didn't hurt at all. It was so strange. The bruise went away in three days. I recognized it as a healing crisis because I had just worked through other dis-eases. I was studying to be a naturopath at the time and had made a list of all the physical disturbances and diseases I had experienced in my life. I reviewed some of the other symptoms that had come up in the last 60 days and working backwards from the most recent diseases backward, the toe incident was in that time frame of healing.
As healing crisis symptoms come up (if they do), they will last just a fraction of the time of the original disease and not be as severe. Chemicals and drugs will come out of the body as well when the body builds sufficient energy and strength to liquefy and throw off catarrh (mucous). I've noticed this may take a couple of years of nutrition and cleansing in the most chronic situation.
Detoxification of chemicals happens in a variety of ways. For example sulfur escapes through the skin, mercury through furuncles (boils), ulcers, abscesses, opens sores and hemorrhoidal discharges. Toxic gases find their way out of the body through body odor, furry tongues and in bad breath.
APPLY WHAT YOU’VE LEARNED:
Exercise:
In a journal or on a piece of paper think back to your childhood.
1. Write down everything that ever went wrong health-wise.
2. Now organize these in a time line.
3. Write them in the order of most recent to least recent.
4. Now draw little box by each item in the left hand margin.
When you start your healing process, check off the boxes as you experience the symptoms. This exercise teaches you to notice what is going on in your body. Sometimes the symptom will be so mild you may think it is a coincidence. Other symptoms, like swollen lymph nodes, may last longer. This is a wonderful experience and positive reinforcement that you are making progress in your health.
A patient may go through several heeling crises at various time intervals indicating reversal of more than one condition. When your body is ready to heal it will release the toxins. There really is no way to determine exactly when or if a healing crisis will occur. One can never predict which symptoms will present or how severe hey will be.
Ways to work through a healing crisis:
1. Drink lots of water.
2. Treat yourself to a massage or hot bath.
3. Apply a piece of felt soaked with castor oil to the liver area and cover the area with saran wrap. This is called a "castor oil pack" and draws the toxins from the body. Repeat and change daily for 3-5 days.
4. Fast for a day or two.
5. Get a chiropractic adjustment.
6. Pray and do some attitudinal work.
7. Find a support team to ask questions about your healing.
This is a great time to pamper yourself. You deserve it for all your efforts.
Dr. Bernard Jensen says:
"We cannot expect sweet thoughts with a sour stomach. And for this reason, all stress in any organ has an effect on every other aspect of our being. Physical, emotional, mental and spiritual processes are all interconnected and need to be in balance for healing to occur."

Has Psychiatry Got It Wrong?

Posted by luputtenan2

My first encounter with western psychiatry started in Ireland, thirteen years ago, when I came from India. It was the ‘advanced’ psychiatric training in this part of the world that attracted me to coming here. However, within a few months of starting my training, I realised that what I was learning was the de-humanisation of ill people.
There appeared to be a lack of hope in the psychiatric services, among both the consumers and the providers of the services. In the name of ‘professionalism’, patients were categorised under labels and treated with medication with a ‘take it or leave it’ attitude.
There are methods available to treat mental conditions that do not involve medication.I believe that such methods provide a more humane and natural way of treating mental illness, free of unpleasant or often toxic side effects. However, the psychiatric establishment has been unwilling to explore seriously any treatment that does not rely on drugs. It prompts me to ask whether psychiatry has got it wrong.
A New Practice
Twelve years ago, in 1993, I worked briefly with Professor Ivor Browne, as his junior, in St. Brendan’s Hospital, Dublin. Ivor had the reputation of being a genius on the one hand and an eccentric on the other. He worked with victims of sex and emotional abuse at that time, using breath work and hypnosis.
It became apparent to me then, that there was more to psychiatry than medication. So I decided to learn hypnosis, even though it was a field of which psychiatrists in Ireland were scared. I did an advanced programme in hypnosis with a well-known school in Cork, under a non-medical person. This was the best training in hypnosis then available in Ireland.
By the time had I finished my training in hypnosis, it was obvious to me that hypnosis and meditation could help to alleviate the sufferings of psychiatric consumers. So I decided to set up my own practice with the intention of using hypnosis and meditation, along with my medical background, to help mentally ill clients.
As I had earned a Diploma in Psychological Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, I decided to set up my practice in Dublin. That was ten years ago.
I was in a strange situation. I did not register with the Medical Council, so I could not practice as a prescribing psychiatrist. Yet I had post-graduate qualifications in psychiatry. I was not a psychologist because I did not have qualifications in psychology. But I did have the skills to practice psychotherapy. I therefore decided to make the best of what I had.
I began to explore the mechanisms of breath work, meditation and hypnosis. I very soon realised that the psychiatrists and neuro-scientists were overlooking a simple physiological phenomenon.
Nature’s Way
In the human body, the hormonal system works on a feedback basis. This means that if one hormone increases in the blood, another hormone will stop it from being secreted further. This is also true of neurotransmitters, the disturbance of which is believed to cause psychiatric conditions. (I call them ‘conditions’ because most of them are temporary and reversible, contrary to current beliefs in psychiatry).
Most western psychiatrists believe that the only way the disturbances in such systems can be corrected is by giving drugs to patients. They believe that psychotherapy can help only to a limited extent, to support people on drug treatment. But few have dared to ask how and why psychotherapy should be so limited, or if its effectiveness could be extended. Psychiatrists insist that they are a scientific profession, yet in failing to explore psychotherapy in a scientific way, they are failing as scientists.
My own logic, however, was simple. Nature operates on the simple principle that each problem contains its own solution. The hormonal feedback system, mentioned above, is an example of this. The principle also applies to neurotransmitters. Thus, if something in Nature causes an imbalance in the neurotransmitters in the body, Nature must have it own way of reversing this imbalance. I had to learn Nature’s way for myself, through scientific exploration and experience.
Relaxation and Imagery
The Internet was a useful tool in my initial research. It helped me to discover how other practitioners around the world had succeeded in treating psychiatric conditions without using drugs. I combined this with my own research.
By 1997, one year after setting up my own practice as a medical hypnotherapist, I had acquired a good scientific knowledge of how almost all functional psychiatric conditions could be treated with little or no medication. That year, I delivered a paper in the USA to a conference of the American Society of Experimental & Clinical Hypnosis, on working with emotional distress.
A person who suffers with a psychiatric condition like depression, anxiety, insomnia or any addiction, has had subjectively distressing experiences. The emotional impact of these events disturbs the hormonal and neurotransmitter system in the body. The irony is that the emotional impact stays in the memory even when the events are not consciously remembered. It affects the person’s thinking and behaviour and can give rise to a psychiatric condition.
All psychiatric conditions are preceded or triggered by stressful life experiences. Such experiences create a state of ‘hyper-arousal’ in the body. Psychiatric drugs suppress this arousal state. This also has the side effect of slowing the person down physically.
However, drug-free methods can just as effectively calm the state of hyper-arousal, using relaxation and imagery exercises. A person becomes successively more relaxed, as the emotional impact of each distressing event is neutralised. For instance, doing ‘silent screaming’ – or mental screaming – for only three minutes a day, can bring relief in about two to four weeks, to a person on any kind of psychiatric medication. It can sometimes take only a few sessions to deal with lifetime issues.
Drugless Psychiatry
Three years ago, I wrote a paper on Drugless Psychiatry and presented it in London at the annual conference of the World Forum on Mental Health. By this time, my first book, The Stress Barrier, had been published in Ireland.
I was then under the illusion that professionals in Ireland would be curious to learn new techniques and the scientific basis for the drug free treatment of psychiatric conditions.
However, I soon took a low profile with my work, as I came to realise that the Psychiatric Establishment was too closed and too bound up with self-interest, to look at anything alternative – even if that alternative was science-based.
I consider my own work to be an original Irish scientific innovation, yet its components are not all totally new as they include some pre-existing methods used in novel ways. I call it Subjective Emotive Brief Therapy.
Scientific Alternatives Ignored
Each person has a subjective emotional response to any experience. Thus, what one person finds extremely traumatic may be less so for another. Work in trauma by other psychiatrists, especially in the United States, shows that the interaction of the individual with the environment is as important in the causation of mental illnesses as genetics or family history. Genetics determine the vulnerability of the individual, which can vary from time to time. But it is the environment that provides the triggers for disturbing the neuro-hormonal make-up of the body.
A big chunk of psychiatric research is based on twin and adoption studies. However, there has been no study of the physiology, or body functions, of the individuals involved. It is presumed that genetic components are the only factors responsible for their psychiatric conditions. This ignores the impact of physiology on psychiatric conditions.
For instance, our senses play an important role in teaching the body to remember experiences. These experiences are stored as memories. This process occurs through our emotions, in which neurotransmitters and hormones act as catalysts. Each emotional experience is therefore a physiological, or bodily response, to external stimuli; and it affects both our thinking and our behaviour.
It therefore follows that if you change the way we respond emotionally – or physiologically – you can change thinking and behaviour. To this end, psychiatry uses medication to suppress the emotional and behavioural responses.
However, there are also scientific psychotherapeutic techniques for changing these responses, with little or no medication. This is supported by existing scientific research showing that counselling and psychotherapy can alleviate mental suffering. Psychiatrists argue that psychotherapy cannot be scientific. I strongly dispute this on the evidence of the research literature and on the basis of my own work.
I have been developing and using drug-free psychiatric alternatives in my psychotherapy practice, in a scientific way, for the past ten years. But it disappoints me that the psychiatric establishment feels so uncomfortable with scientific techniques developed by myself, or by others, that avoid reliance on drugs. I believe that mentally ill patients, their families and the community at large, suffer as a result. Drugs can be helpful, but complete reliance on them is misguided.

Shamanic Healing In The 21st Century

Posted by luputtenan2 on Monday, November 21, 2005

Shamanic healing describes in essence a group of processes that has been practised throughout the millennia, and throughout every civilisation in the world, which entails for a shaman to travel in non-ordinary realms (quantum realms, other worlds, dreamtime etc) and there, to make changes, learn about the nature of the problem and to bring back resolutions.
Shamanic healing relies at the baseline for any practitioner, or shaman, to be able to contact and understand the underlying "invisible" energetic realities of the world.
Therefore, and although for example soul healing, soul loss and a range of mind healing and incarnational healing activities is what is most commonly associated with shamanic healing, a shaman can also "read plants", minerals, other forms of energy imprints and match these to the problem at hand.
True shamanic healing is absolutely fascinating and not to be confused with a mind game that used to be played at some length in the "new age communities" of the late 20th century.
The difference between an "imagining" and a true shamanic healing experience is known because it is FELT; further more, when a true shamanic healing experience has taken place, REALITY CHANGES as a result.
For a beginner studying shamanic healing work, it is of the essence to REMAIN REAL at all times.
Humans are easily given to imagination and delusion; and someone who has never experienced an orgasm would probably be hard pushed to explain the difference in the sensations of an orgasm, and a good sneeze.
It is therefore essential for a junior shaman to first of all, learn how to differentiate between what is real and what is just an imagining; this is needed to set the path in the right direction, towards more real experiences and away from disturbing illusions.
The EmoTrance healing system provides this ESSENTIAL assistance at level 1 by focussing on PHYSICAL SENSATIONS related to INVISIBLE occurrences. The body doesn't lie; and to learn to trust one's own PHYSICAL responses, to read them correctly and to USE THEM in order to stay on the path of reality and not get lost in illusion is the first lesson, first task of shamanic healing.
In past societies, shamans were put through severe rituals of pain to "ground them in physicality" and to teach them the all important lessons of reality vs illusions; in the EmoTrance healing system, we USE THE EXISTING PAIN of old injuries in the energy system (in the spirit person, in the spirit realms of a human being) to learn these lessons instead - and whilst we do this, we get to HEAL these old wounds at the same time.
This increases the shamans ability to feel, to perceive; it releases their limitations of fear and reversal and it is indeed the first and most important step to moving forward into true shamanic healing at the higher levels of reality.

Celebrities Increase Popularity of Gastric Bypass Surgery

Posted by luputtenan2 on Saturday, November 19, 2005

Gastric bypass surgery has become more popular than ever thanks to a number of celebrities who have gone public with their stories. Sharon Osbourne, Al Roker, Carnie Wilson, Randy Jackson, Roseanne Barr and Diego Maradona have all undergone weight loss surgery under the public eye.
These celebrities make gastric bypass surgery seem easy, but the truth is that it is a serious and complicated surgery and not something to undertake lightly. It should only be used as a last resort when serious dieting and exercise do not work. In our want-it-now society, it may seem like a good quick fix, but the longterm effects must be considered.
In the slick media world, celebrities go on talk shows and talk about their surgeries as another anecdote, glossing over the realities of the surgery. Much like plastic surgery reality shows bypass the recovery period and complications and go straight to the "reveal" moment, celebrities talking about their gastric bypass surgeries do not often address potential complications.
For some people, gastric bypass surgery may be the only answer. It is a life-saving procedure for them. Unfortunately, for others who could lose the weight through diet and exercise if they tried, it has become a trendy option. Very little is reported in the media about the risks of weight loss surgery, such as gallstones, infection, and eventually malnutrition.
Before jumping on the latest trend, it's important to do your research. Just because celebrities make it look easy doesn't mean it is. Our bodies were made the way they are for a reason - we should only "bypass" what Nature gave us if it is our only option.

Does Creatine Really Help Build Muscle?

Posted by luputtenan2

If you are a gym rat or bodybuilder or simply interested in beginning an exercise program you have probably heard a lot about creatine and the muscle miracles it performs. Unfortunately, most people believe that creatine helps build muscle and it does in a way, but probably not the way you are thinking. The best way to describe creatine is to say that it helps the muscles help themselves build muscle. If that is not clear enough, continue reading.
Creatine does exactly what it claims to do and that is to retain water in your muscles. This is the point of creatine and it really is effective at keeping water in the muscles. Now, what happens is when your muscles are retaining water they are in an optimal state for building new muscle. As a result, when you take creatine and water is retained in your muscles then when you weight train you will get more of an effect because your muscles are better capable of building muscle. After this period you may develop more strength and increased endurance as well. So, if you are taking creatine to help you build muscle and you understand what creatine does and how it helps you build muscle then you will not be disappointed. On the other hand, if you are taking creatine and hoping it will simply grow you bodybuilder’s muscles without putting in the work then you are mistaken.
The best thing to do is begin taking creatine and working out with weights on a regular routine or even with a trainer. By taking the creatine your muscles will be poised to grow and get stronger while building endurance. However, keep in mind you have to put in all the hard work and that all creatine does for you is helps your muscles retain water in order to be in a state where building muscle is easier. Over time you will see your muscles growing and should not see any loss of definition because of the retained water in your muscles. Don’t become confused about creatine building big muscles; it just helps your muscles build themselves stronger and better when you put in the work.

Healing through a visualisation meditation and hands-on-healing; a visual experience to understand the roll of the energy body, the aura, to help bring balance and healing to the physical body.
A young couple visited my Healing Centre. The young man, Neil, was suffering from Hepatitis C, leaving him with a failing liver. The doctors only gave him six months to live. When the couple arrived Neil was looking stoney faced, as though he were carrying all the problems of his life and the world on his shoulders.
I thought the best way to proceed was to try to relieve some of the tension first before administering him healing. I suggested that we do a visualisation meditation, balancing his aura energy that surrounds the physical body.
We began the meditation and, as I usually do, I started by taking the attention inward. First by becoming aware of the feet on the ground, checking for tension in the muscles, then working through the rest of the body relieving tension and relaxing the muscles. I then made the couple aware of their breathing by noticing the life energy coming in with each inbreath and the stale energy leaving the body with each outbreath.
By this time the silence had descended on the room, leaving it filled with love and light. I brought their attention to this silence and described some of its magnetic qualities. I got them to try to find the boundaries of this silence. Was it only inside the body or did it extend beyond? I invited them to notice that although this silence is silent, it seems to have liveliness to it, a kind of grain. We played about with this love and light that we all felt deep within our hearts. I then took their attention back to their feet and started to grow roots out of their feet to connect their energy field to the centre of the earth. I opened each of the energy centres in the body - the seven chakras - washing the aura thoroughly with each coloured light in turn.
By this time the energies were really starting to develop. I continued to describe my understanding of how the body worked. I got them to visualise the forever-magical life process. An egg or cell in the mother's womb being fertilized; the egg dividing again and again, producing many cells from within itself. As the number of cells increases, seeing them start to specialize in all the various components of the body. Some form the skin, some the bone, some the organs of the body. I then drew an analogy between a piece of paper with iron filings on it and the cells in the body. The iron filings are all random until a magnet is brought underneath. Then the life force of the magnet holds all the iron filings in place in a balanced and harmonious way. In the same way the life force in that growing baby holds and co-ordinates all the cells to grow in a balanced and harmonious way.
It is only the stress of living life that upsets the natural balance of the human system. In the case of Neil he seemed to be carrying more than his fair share of life's burdens with him. So I got him to forgive all those people that had wronged him in his life. I got him also to forgive himself for all the people he had wronged, and asked him to visualize all that stale energy leaving him, returning to the roots deep within the earth. Again we washed the aura with the light from the chakras, visualizing each energy body being repaired. In this visualization we also included his rents and tears; this light was mending all his wounds. The energy bodies being left in perfect balance and perfect harmony one inside the other. In this way forming the energy field that holds every cell in the body in perfect harmony and perfect balance, performing its natural duty in an effortless, natural way.
But the real magic of this visualization meditation came when I started to focus in on his physical problem of the liver.
As soon as I mentioned the word 'liver' there was such a presence in the room. Every cell of my body started to tingle and I felt that we had some very powerful healing helper come in from the spirit world to help in this process of healing Neil's liver. We started the healing in the meditation by thanking all the cells in Neil's body for all the hard work they had done over the years in keeping the body going and maintaining the peace and harmony that exists within him.
We focused down on the liver itself and thanked all the healthy cells for all the extra hard work they were doing to keep the liver functioning. You could almost hear the waves of appreciation received back from them for this loving thought. With the energy field repaired and the help of all the healthy cells in Neil's liver, I then asked for all the cells that were not healthy to leave and be replaced with healthy normal ones. I asked for some of the cells to be sent out as scouts to try to find spare material in the body to carry out the repairs needed.
I then started to close the chakras and continue balancing the energy fields in the body. I slowly got the couple to be aware of their surroundings again and gradually become fully conscious of their physical body and their surroundings. We then went on to do the physical hands-on healing and channel the universal energy in the normal way.

How to Live Forever

Posted by luputtenan2

Who Wants to Live Forever?
As far as anybody knows, humans are the only animals that have a sense of mortality. For a very long time - presumably ever since we gained this awareness of impending death - we have speculated about the prospect of immortality. Not all cultures wish for immortality. Some religions, perhaps most religions, would regard any search for immortality as undesirable. With the greatest respect to those who do not want immortality or do not agree with it, we must surely admit that many of us - including many of religious faith - would welcome immortality, or at the very least, a prolonged life.
Civilisation Produced Old Age
Before we look at the ways in which this could be achieved, let us consider where we are now. Humans have evolved into the dominant species on earth. Fewer and fewer predators have threatened us as we have gained in strength, cunning and inventiveness. As a society we have learned to harness nature to the extent that food can be stored and packaged and eaten without the need for all of us to hunt and gather. Medicines have been developed to counter disease. We have found ways of keeping our water clean for drinking. Many of us can heat our homes (or even cool them) when necessary, and to a greater or lesser extent look after our old as we look after our young. We have become civilised.
Wear Out
The phenomenon of old age that civilisation has brought to us sets us apart from other animals. It is virtually unheard of to see old age amongst wild animals. As we have become civilised our bodies have not caught up yet. They were never designed to last for centuries because uncivilised man could never have lasted that long in its wild environment. We die because we wear out - not because we can't feed or look after ourselves. The good news is that we are catching up. Each generation (usually) lives longer then the one that went before. Many of us are choosing healthier lifestyles that helps to prolong life. But we are still wearing out.
Body Part Replacement
Scientists and surgeons have become increasingly knowledgeable about transplants of human body parts. The problem of rejection is not the barrier it once was. With the advent of DNA technology it is possible, in theory at least, the "grow" a human body part using the DNA blueprint found in just a small sample. Putting these two facts together, there is a real chance that we will soon have the means to transplant most body parts. In time we could replace all body parts. Once transplantation is perfected we would then have the means to replace worn-out body parts at will. We could all have a scan where a DNA profile of our bodies was compiled. The information in our personal database would be used in order to grow our replacement parts. Using micro-surgery techniques, new parts could be fitted every 5 years! Can you imagine it?
What About the Brain?
Change as many bits as you like, but take the brain away and then surely the person no longer exists. Even if it were possible to grow a replacement brain, how would the information from the old one - including our very state of existence and self-image - be transferred to the new one? Well, the brain is indeed a special case as it holds not only our thoughts and memories but also our sense of being. Because of this, swapping one brain for another and disposing of the old one would be tantamount to murder and defeat the point of the whole exercise. On the other hand, if the brain could not be rejuvenated just like the rest of the body, it will die from old age anyway.
Brains Rarely Fail
There are various ways of dealing with this issue. It must be remembered that thousands of our brain cells are dying every day. It is possible for new cells to be created, but the rate of cell death is far greater than cell creation. Whatever the reason, the rate of aggregate brain cell death seems to grow as we age. That said, it is very common for the brain to remain in a good state whilst the rest of the body fails. When people die of old age, it usually a part of the body - such as the heart - that fails and rarely the brain itself.
Apoptosis
Why do brain cells (or neurons) die? There are various causes. They are certain illnesses, accidents and the use of certain drugs (e.g. alcohol) or other environmental toxins. These factors only play a minor part in brain cell death. A more common cause is apoptosis. This is where cells effectively commit suicide. This process is not fully understood but is thought to be necessary for the long term health of the brain. It is thought that cells that are in some way damaged (for instance their DNA might have become scrambled) die before they can cause damage to the rest of the body. It is also thought, however, that apoptosis occurs to cells virtually at random. One idea is that, as our body fails certain neurons are no longer required and simply expire rather than use resources. This may be a significant theory: our bodies wear out: we slow down: less stimuli reach the brain: the brain doesn't need as many neurons: apoptosis results.
Introducing New Cells
Perhaps apoptosis is the key to the fact that our brains generally outlive the rest of our body. The brain simply gets leaner but stays meaner compared to other body parts that simply cannot shed unwanted or bad cells. So why even think of transplanting the brain? There is no reason to replace parts of the brain because unwanted cells die out voluntarily. One idea is simply to add new cells, prepared with the correct DNA structure. With nano technology it would be possible for microscopic robots to enter the body (perhaps through the gut, if taken regularly as a drug) and carry the new cells with them to the brain. It may be possible for a one-off procedure to deposit a culture in the body that will act as a brain cell reservoir. Nano robots would release new cells at an appropriate rate. In addition, if limbs were being regularly replaced, the body as a whole would be quicker and this would undoubtedly result in a lower rate of apoptosis. Oh, and easy on the alcohol!
In our throw-away society we may have lost the habit of replacing parts. The thing about us humans is that we can't simply be replaced by a new model. We need to be renovated and renewed occasionally. Perhaps a few of the things we buy could get the same treatment. When I am not thinking about immortality, I am promoting Insectocutor Fly Killers. We are always happy to sell you a new model. We also, however, carry a range of spare parts. There are some Insectocutor models out there that are over 30 years old. We are proud to have supplied the odd spare part when it has been needed. Immortality indeed!

Holiday Diet And Weight Loss Tips

Posted by luputtenan2 on Thursday, November 17, 2005

The approaching holidays are a nightmare for anyone engaged in a weight loss or diet regimen and with very good reason. With all of the temptations that seem to lurk around every corner, office get-together and holiday party; it can be easy for even the most determined dieters to get sidetracked and lose sight of their weight loss goals. This year; however, by giving your choices and portions a little carefully aimed attention you can avoid destroying all the hard work you have put into your diet the rest of the year.
One of the biggest challenges for many dieters during the holiday season is avoiding the hectic round of get-togethers and parties that almost always come hand in hand with the holidays. The good news about such events; however, is that many of them tend to be buffet and pot-luck types of affairs; which gives you numerous options that can help you to stick to your diet plans. While buffet tables are typically laden with heavy casseroles and fatty appetizers, you can usually find at least one platter of fresh vegetables served with a nice low-fat dip. Also, opt for fresh fruits instead of the abundance of baked desserts that are typically offered. Instead of stocking your plate up with diet dangerous foods, choose steamed vegetables and healthy grains such as wild rice and wheat bread. Opting for white meat instead of dark meat can also help you to stay on the straight and narrow, by avoiding additional calories.
Whenever possible, limit the amount of alcohol based beverages that you consume. Just a few alcoholic beverages contain a surprising amount of calories; not to mention the fact that they only serve to increase the appetite of most people. Choose a light bear, wine spritzer or carbonated flavored water instead.
When it’s your turn to prepare the mound of requisite holiday food, remember that there are several tricks you can employ in order to stay true to your diet goals and keep family and friends pleased at the same time. One way to do this is by substituting evaporated skim milk for regular milk or cream in your holiday recipes. This will help to tremendously cut down on the amount of fat and calories included in your dishes without sacrificing taste. Unsweetened applesauce makes a great substitute for calorie laden oil while egg substitute can easily replace the requirement for eggs in most recipes without any noticeable change to the taste.
Finally, one of the best ways that you can avoid overindulging this holiday season is to take it slow and easy. Remember that the entire point of this time of year is to get together with friends and family members; many of which you might not see for months to come. Focus on the fun and conversation instead of rushing through a heavy meal and you’ll find that not only did you enjoy this year more, but that you made it through with your diet intact.

Barbecue Islands - Taking Your Kitchen Outside

Posted by luputtenan2

Barbecue islands are an amazing way to have fun with family and friends while having everything you need at your fingertips for cooking. You'll be able to bring your indoor kitchen outside. Barbecue islands are perfect for covered porches or patios.
While choosing an outdoor kitchen which can be as big as 48 inches to 108 inches in size, make sure to find one that has 6 inch overhangs for the most space. Most islands have square edges, but the Sonoma Orleans 60 inch is the only one that has smooth edges. It consists of four wheel casters with anchors so you are able to easily move it around.
Plus there is an all-around bar, for durability it is designed using welded tubular construction, and has a perforated bottom for circulation. Outdoor kitchens are easily customizable, just decide where you want to put it, and the merchant will send it to your home and place it in your perfect space. Appliances that match barbecue islands are patio heaters, ice makers, ovens, wet bars, grill side-warmers, make great additions to complement your outdoor experience.

The Secret Weapon Of Successful Weight Loss

Posted by luputtenan2 on Wednesday, November 16, 2005

Are you sick and tired of being fat and unable to lose weight!! There is an answer! Please listen; if you want your weight loss regime to work you will have to perform ‘Strength training’ and there is just no getting around it.
It is absolutely imperative that during the course of a lifetime not only for your weight loss goals but also for general health and well being that you must use these valuable tool.
For years we have been told to diet the excess fat from our bodies and throw in some fast walking to hasten the process.
The trouble with this is that the low calorie restricted diet would throw the body into starvation mode with the body holding onto the fat and using precious lean muscle tissue for energy.
This would "Lower Your Metabolism" causing greater muscle loss and once the diet was broken the original fat would return and you would have greater chance of gaining even more fat creating a
"A Vicious Cycle"
Eventually, your body would become used to the diet and then you will reach a point where nothing was happening. So what do you do now?
Try weight loss supplements, creams, massage, toning tables, and drugs. You should know by now that these don't work. There is a better way and it is
"Strength Training"
Many studies are showing that Strength Training is a far superior method for weight loss. (Ladies, you won't bulk up by using weights, you don't have the testosterone to get big and muscular, so don't worry).
If you are not incorporating strength training into your weight loss program then you can look forward to disappointing results.
The days of strength training three to five days a week in the gym, an hour at a time are long gone. That just doesn't work as a plateau is reached after three to four weeks and nothing you do will get you off it.
All that is required is one short strength-training workout a week done at home or in the gym and this will melt away more fat than you would have thought possible.
Fats, Figures and Cardio Work
We've already found out that by increasing the functional muscle on your body, you increase your resting metabolic rate.
Due to this higher metabolic rate you can now eat more calories, which means that you won't need to starve anymore to lose weight.
In a sense, fewer calories have to be cut back from our daily intake of food and successful dieting (provided that you eat the right foods) will become more likely.
As far as Fats are concerned, they're burned from the body when cells oxidize to release energy in the form of exercise. When exercise is done slowly to moderately for 20 to 30 minutes, then the majority of energy is taken from the fat stores.
It's important to understand that the loss of fat comes from fat cells all over the body, not just from one or more specific areas. Therefore, fat reduction of a certain area is not generally possible.
The best exercise for the purpose of fat loss is fast walking either indoors on the treadmill or outdoors. Walk until you are mildly puffing and hold that rate for the allotted time.
If your cardio activities leave you panting or breathless you are going too hard. Your energy will be then coming from your carbohydrate reserves and not from your fat stores.
Nutrition For Weight Loss
By decreasing the amount of calories you eat per day to the weight loss amount, you should start losing weight. Don't go any lower and check the mirror regularly to judge your progress.
If you don't have an accurate idea of how many calories you are consuming a day, how will you know whether you’re overeating or not?
So go ahead and try to eat small frequent meals during the day each containing a little protein to maintain muscle and energy levels. Also try to consume foods with vital vitamin and mineral compositions on a daily basis.
