Vibrate Your Acidic Fat Away!

According to a report that was published last year in the online edition of "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences," imperceptible vibrations transmitted through the whole body could help prevent weight gain in mice by removing tissue acidosis and thus inhibiting the production of fat cells to store non-eliminated environmental, dietary and/or metabolic acid.

In a study led by Clinton Rubin, chair of the department of biomedical engineering at Stony Brook University, in New York, mice that stood on a vibrating platform for 15 minutes daily produced fewer acid bound fat cells than normal. The findings complicate a traditional understanding of weight loss that focuses mainly on metabolism.

Researchers have known for quite a while that mechanical signals can determine the fate of stem cells--undifferentiated cells that divide and become many different types of tissue - in the small intestine. Rubin, who calls himself a "bonehead," led the pack in understanding how bones develop long before he turned his attention to fat. "Mechanical signals are important for stem cells to decide what to be when they grow up," he says.
Bones need mechanical input in order to grow and stay strong.

Studies at NASA have shown that astronauts lose 2.5 percent of their bone density each month they stay in space. On the other hand, athletes, like archers or baseball players, who selectively work one arm or leg, will grow thicker bones on that side of the body.

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of Research at the pH Miracle Living Center, "a stress in the body, whether intentional or not, will cause blood to flow to that area. The increase in blood flow will result in the blood transforming into new bone, muscle, nerve, etc., in response to the stress. This is why a tennis player will have one arm that is being stressed larger than the other arm that is not being stressed."

To solve the problem of bone loss in space, Rubin started experimenting with vibrations. At the Johnson Space Center, in Houston, volunteer test subjects endured 90 days of fully horizontal bed rest, which roughly simulates what the body goes through during zero gravity. Without having to carry the weight of the body, the skeleton loses much of its mass. So Rubin designed a vibrating platform that would recreate some of the strain of weight. For 10 minutes a day, the device gets cranked up to 30 hertz, an imperceptible level of oscillation. The vibrations run up the body through the feet, sending mechanical signals to stem cells in the small intestine. The signals reach these cells in their adolescence, before they differentiate, and encourage them to become blood cells that then become bone cells or something else.

At some point, Rubin asked the question that led him to study fat. "We saw that we could grow bones with these signals," he says. But "if we're growing bone, what aren't we growing?" As he showed in research published last year, the answer is acid bound fat cells.

Rubin used the same device as the one in the NASA study to see if vibrations would have any effect on the weight of mice. Every day, for 15 minutes, the mice were placed on the platform, this time vibrating at 30 Hz. After 12 weeks, the mice had 27.4 percent less fat in their torsos than a control group.

Acids Cause Heart Attacks and Strokes NOT Cholesterol!

A new national study has shown that nearly 75 percent of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had cholesterol levels that would indicate they were not at high risk for a cardiovascular event, according to current national cholesterol guidelines.

Specifically, these patients had low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol levels that met current guidelines, and close to half had LDL levels classified in guidelines as optimal (less than 100 mg/dL).

"Almost 75 percent of heart attack patients fell within recommended targets for LDL cholesterol, demonstrating that the current guidelines may not be low enough to cut heart attack risk in most who could benefit," said Dr. Gregg C. Fonarow, Eliot Corday Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and the study's principal investigator.

While the risk of cardiovascular events increases substantially with LDL levels above 40–60 mg/dL, current national cholesterol guidelines consider LDL levels less than 100–130 mg/dL acceptable for many individuals. The guidelines are thus not effectively identifying the majority of individuals who will develop fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, according to the study's authors.

Researchers also found that more than half of patients hospitalized for a heart attack had poor high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels, according to national guidelines.

Published in the January issue of the American Heart Journal, the study suggests that lowering guideline targets for LDL cholesterol for those at risk for cardiovascular disease, as well as developing better treatments to raise HDL cholesterol, may help reduce the number of patients hospitalized for heart attack in the future.

"The study gives us new insight and intervention ideas to help reduce the number of heart attacks," said Fonarow, who is also director of the Ahmanson–UCLA Cardiomyopathy Center.

Researchers analyzed data from 136,905 patients hospitalized for a heart attack nationwide between 2000 and 2006 whose lipid levels upon hospital admission were documented. This accounted for 59 percent of total hospital admissions for heart attack at participating hospitals during the study period.

Among individuals without any prior cardiovascular disease or diabetes, 72.1 percent had admission LDL levels less than 130 mg/dL, which is the current LDL cholesterol target for this population. Thus, the vast majority of individuals having their first heart attack would not have been targeted for effective preventative treatments based on the criteria used in the current guidelines.

The team also found that half of the patients with a history of heart disease had LDL cholesterol levels lower than 100 mg/dL, and 17.6 percent of patients had LDL levels below 70 mg/dL, which are guideline targets for LDL cholesterol in those at fair risk and at high risk for cardiovascular disease, respectively.

The study also showed that HDL cholesterol, or "good cholesterol," levels have dropped in patients hospitalized for heart attack over the past few years, possibly due to increasing rates of obesity, insulin resistance and diabetes.

Researchers found that 54.6 percent of patients had HDL levels below 40 mg/dL. Developing more effective treatments to boost HDL levels may help reduce the number of patients hospitalized for heart attacks, according to the authors.

"We found that less than 2 percent of heart attack patients had both ideal LDL and HDL cholesterol levels, so there is room for improvement," said Fonarow.

Fonarow said that only 59 percent of patients in the database had their lipid levels checked upon admission, which should be increased, since these early measurements can often help guide treatment decisions.

He also noted that only 21 percent of patients in the study were taking lipid-lowering medications before admission, despite almost half having a prior history of cardiovascular events, which would prompt treatment.

The study, published in Carcinogenesis, found that animals that were given Brussels sprout juice and heterocyclic amine carcinogenic acids were less likely to develop a cancerous condition.

The animals given Brussels sprouts had a reduction in pre-cancerous or fermenting spoiling cells in the colon of 41-52% in the colon and 27-67% in the liver, and drastically diminished the size (85-91%) of pre-cancerous lesions in the liver. These amazing results seem to be a result of Brussels sprouts potent alkalizing ability to detoxify the body and clear out the toxic acids in the colon.

Brussels sprouts are also packed with fiber, which nourishes the cells lining the walls of the colon and prevents colon problems including a cancerous acidic condition.

The diets of 697 people who were recently diagnosed with cancerous bladder were compared with 708 people with the same age, gender and ethnicity who were healthy. The
average daily intake of Brussels sprouts and other cruciferous
vegetables was significantly lower in those with bladder cancer than in their healthy counterparts. Those who had the highest intake of Brussels sprouts and cruciferous vegetables had a 29% lower risk of a cancerous bladder than those who ate the least.

The benefits of these vegetables were highest in those who have the highest risk of bladder cancer, including men, smokers older
individuals and those who have an acidic lifestyle and diet.

Brussels sprout`s bladder cancer properties appear to come from their high levels isothiocyanates, which are potent alkalizing anti-carcinogens.

Isothiocyanates travel through the bladder to be excreted, making them particularly powerful against this form of cancerous condition or fermentation.

Olive and Avocado Oil Help Prevent and Reverse Breast Cancer

Extra-virgin olive and avocado oil lowers the risk of developing cancerous breasts in those who carry a particular genetic trait involved in about 20 to 30 percent of breast cancers.

Researchers from the University of Granada in Spain wondered why a Mediterranean diet rich in olive and avocado oil appeared to lower breast cancer risk in some studies but not in others. They theorized that the answer could depend on the type of cancer. Their research found that two chemicals in olive and avocado oil -- lignans and secoiridoids -- block the HER2 protein that is associated with acidic cancerous breast tumors that then to grow more rapidly than other forms of the acidic condition.

"Our findings reveal for the first time that all the major complex phenols present in extra-virgin oil drastically suppress overexpression of the cancer gene HER2 in human breast cancer cells," wrote study authors Javier Menéndez from the Catalan Institute of Oncology and Antonio Segura-Carretero from the University of Granada.

Extra-virgin olive and avocado oil is derived from pressing olives or avocados without heat or chemicals.

"Even though a diet rich in extra-virgin olive and avocado oil might contribute to a lowering of breast cancer risk, researchers believe their study may lead to the development of natural treatments based on the cancerous or acidic-fighting chemicals, including lignans, luctiens and secoiridoids," states Dr. Robert O. Young, Director of the pH Miracle Living Center.

"These findings, together with the fact that humans have safely been ingesting significant amounts of lignans and secoiridoids as long as they have been consuming olives and extra-virgin oil, strongly suggest that these polyphenols might provide an excellent and safe platform for the design of new anti breast-cancer treatments," wrote Menéndez and Segura-Carretero.

According to Dr. Young, "lignans, luctiens and secoiridoids act as alkaline buffers of environmental, dietary and metabolic acids and protects the alkaline design of the blood and tissues and thus prevents a cancerous condition of the breast, brain, lung, liver, pancreas, bowels and reproductive organs. The True Cause of All Sensitivities, Allergies and Pain

Acidic food and drink allergies make millions of Americans miserable and can even kill, but many who have acidic food and drink allergies or intolerances attribute their symptoms to other ailments. Their doctors agree and are more than willing to write prescriptions rather than take the time to properly advise their patients to eliminate acidic food, drink and lifestyle choices which are the true cause of all allergies. The misdiagnosed victims continue to suffer year after year, often in a downward spiral of mounting health problems as a result of acidic lifestyle and dietary choice.

Most people think of food and drink allergies as reactions to certain foods that cause obvious symptoms, such as stomach pains, itching, swelling of the face and lips, and red, raised, angry-looking skin rashes. All of these symptoms are caused by the the acids from acidic foods and drinks.

Yet the majority of people — some 30 percent of all Americans — have more subtle acidic symptoms and signs. True acidic food and drink allergies are usually immediate and occur within hours of ingesting the offending acidic food or drink. Reactions appear with a sudden, almost explosive, onset. Some reactions can cause rapid collapse and even death, such as we commonly see, with two of my top ten acid foods that should never be ingested, peanuts or peanut butter and shell fish, like shrimp or lobster.

Acidic reactions to food and drink intolerances can be delayed days, weeks, and even months after exposure to an acidic food or drink. The symptoms they cause are usually not connected with reactions to foods or drinks, and doctors miss the connections when the acidic reaction is delayed. The reason for the delayed reaction is sometimes it takes days, weeks or months for the acid residues to build up until the body is over-burnden - thus the acidic reaction which the body trying to eliminate via any orifice.

Since doctors are not much help, what can you do to determine whether you are having acidic allergies or intolerances that could be causing many common acidic complaints?
