Have Fun In The Sun This Summer

Posted by luputtenan2 on Thursday, May 1, 2008

"The warmer months entice people of all ages to come
forth from their winter havens - and most need to
be reminded about the importance of alkaline skin and
sun protection. From young children to teens to mature
adults, there are dozens of simple ways to change acidic
skin to alkaline skin and protecting the skin from the
sun rays crystallizing the acids on the skin causing
a reddening of the skin to cancer prevention," states
Dr. Robert O. Young, of the pH Miracle Living Center.

Carol Drucker, M.D., associate professor in the
Department of Dermatology at The University of
Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and
board-certified dermatologist, knows sun protection
is a lifelong necessity for everyone; the earlier
individuals start, the better. From her experience
at M. D. Anderson, the nation's top-ranked cancer
center, Drucker has considerable expertise on
reducing skin cancer risk, and has helpful summer
skin care tips for every age.

Parents of Babies and Young Children

* Sunscreen should not be applied to babies younger
than six months. Instead, cover babies and limit
direct exposure to the sun to the extent possible.

* Make applying a waterproof sunscreen part of a
toddler's routine before getting dressed every
day. "It's important to find a sunscreen that kids
can tolerate - not too heavy or greasy, so it feels
good on the skin," says Drucker. "Parents may be
surprised by how quickly their child becomes
accustomed to this daily ritual."

* Try not to schedule outdoor activity between the
hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and seek playgrounds
where shade - from trees or awnings -- is plentiful.
If your child has to be outdoors during these hours,
be sure they're protected from the sun with a hat,
sunglasses, etc.

Teens

* "Teens do especially well with products that have
built in SPF," advises Drucker. Teen girls who wear
makeup should choose from the variety of products
that include sunscreen. "Since it fits into products
they already use, it's a painless step that provides
valuable sun protection."

* Quit tanning beds. They emit the same harmful UV
rays as sunlight and are used at dangerous rates. Also
never use tanning creams, they are highly acidic and
react to the skin.

* Wear hats as a trendy accessory. Drucker notes sun
damage frequently occurs on the face. "This season
it's easy for teens to stock up on cute, stylish hats
that will also shield their face in the sun."

Adults

* Be aware that the window glass in cars does not
block all of the sun's rays, making the driver's left
side more prone to sun damage. Solutions Drucker
offers include applying sunscreen before long car
rides or installing shades or specialized tinting
in car windows.

* Sun-proof hair. The top of the head becomes
increasingly at risk for sun damage as hair thins
or if the hair is parted. Style using chemical free
shampoos and conditioners.

* Apply non-toxic chemical free sunscreen to
oft-forgotten areas - the top of ears, back of
hands, neck and toes. Drucker warns, "These are
four places that get a lot of incidental sun
exposure."

* It is little known that wind intensifies the sun rays,
says Drucker. "People should be especially careful
during water sports or windy days at the beach when
the chapping and burning effect of the wind acts as
an additive to UV rays and can increase their risk
of burning," she explains.

For non-toxic chemical free sun protection which is
also alkalizing to the skin may I suggest checking
out Dr. Young's sun.

"Despite increased education on becoming sun smart,
the incidence of skin cancer appears to be rising,"
states, Dr. Young.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more than
600,000 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed each
year, and the figure is rising. Skin cancer is the
most common cancer in the United States and is
responsible for 8,500 deaths annually.

A hypothesis for this phenomenon are two-fold according
to Dr. Young:

1) Most people have acidic skin with a pH of below 5.
The radiation from the sun reacts with the acids on
the skin causing acid crystals and damage to the
skin cells leading to cancer,

and,

2) Harmful acidic chemicals lurking in cosmetics and
sunscreens are reacting with the radiation of the
sun damaging the cells of the skin leading to skin
cancer.

International studies found the greatest rise in
melanoma occurred in countries where chemical
sunscreens are heavily promoted.

Dr. Young, states that, "commercially
available cosmetics, lotions and sunscreens
might damage people's skin when it reacts with
radiation from the sun."

The Environmental Working Group's (EWG) in the
June 2007 study where 785 sunscreens were analyzed
showed that 84 percent provided inadequate protection
from the sun's radiation or contained ingredients
with safety concerns.

That is not the case with the all natural Young
pHorever Sun Screen with pure essential oil of
Citronella which contains no harmful ingredients.

Some experts suggest that many sunscreen formulas
may be cancer causing. The harmful chemicals
identified include allergy-creating PABA,
benzophenone-3, homosalate, octyl-methoxycinnamate (OMC)
and 4-methyl-benzylidene camphor (4-MBC). While
these chemicals protect skin from sun damage,
experts have indicated the chemical octyl
methoxycinnamate, which is present in 90
percent of sunscreen brands, was found to kill
mouse cells even at low doses.

Recent studies on childhood illnesses linked these
findings to a possible cause of ADHD, asthma and
allergies.

Some sunscreen ingredients also change estrogen
levels in the body affecting DNA and causing cell
damage by creating an abundance of hydrogen ions
or acids.

As a result of these astonishing findings and
increased consumer demand, Dr. Young has created
a naturally derived sunscreen range which has no
harmful ingredients for longevity, fragrance or
moisturizing purposes. Young pHorever Sun Screen
products consist of powerful antioxidants such as
Tea Tree Oil and Grapefruit Seed extract; Apricot
Oil, Avocado Oil, Almond Oil and colloidal Titanium
and Zinc to fight environmental stressors;
moisturizing and skin-conditioning oils; and
vitamin E to assist with skin reconstruction at
a cellular level.

This combination of ingredients is suitable for
all skin types and will help combat the signs
of photo-aging.

The Young pHorever Sun pHilter range is a result
of extensive research and development and features
a new formula that is non-greasy, gentle, hydrating
and moisturising.

The Young pHorever Sun pHilter Products include:
SPF 15, and SPF 30+, and coming soon: Baby,
Sport, Lip Sunscreen, Sport Lip Sunscreen, and
Sun & Body Oil.

In addition to being naturally derived, the Young
pHorever Sun pHilter products have been tested and
proven to have a sensitivity rating of zero which
makes them ideal for all skin types.

Young pHorever Sun pHilter products are cruelty
free and stringently adhere to Food and Drug
Administration requirements.

Alkalizing Sun and Skin Care Protection

Posted by luputtenan2

Getting protection from summer's alkalizing ultra-
violet sun rays interacting with dietary and metabolic
acids on the skin could be as simple as eating alkalizing
foods made with tomato sauce. Researchers at Manchester
and Newcastle universities in the United Kingdom
found that eating five tomatoes a day helped protect
against both sunburn and premature aging.

Researchers studied the skin of twenty people. Half
were given five tablespoons of tomato paste
(the equivalent of five or six cooked tomatoes)
with olive oil and the other half was just given
olive oil. At the end of twelve weeks, those eating
tomatoes had a protective boost of 33 percent. In
addition, the tomato group also had an increase in
pro-collagen levels, a molecule that helps keep skin
firm and looking youthful.

The helpful anti-oxidant ingredient in tomatoes is
lycopene which neutralizes the harmful skin-damaging
free radicals created from diet and metabolism and
reacts with the ultra-violet rays (which are alkalizing)
of the sun. Although, lycopene is found in many fruits
and vegetables, it is most abundant in tomatoes and is
freed during the cooking process.

"You don't have to eat an excessive amount of tomatoes
to experience the effect if you are already eating a
tomato-based diet with plenty of things like spaghetti
and pizza toppings," said Newcastle University
dermatology scientist Mark Birch-Machin.

"Eating tomatoes is going to have this benefit in
the sun, but it still is important to use conventional
methods of protecting yourself against the sun such
as sunscreens, shade and clothing," said Birch-Machin.

The researchers also hope to discover whether eating
tomatoes will protect against skin cancer.

Protecting your skin from free radical damage can be
as simple as drinking your fruits and vegetables,
including tomato, with Dr. Young's latest
creations of pHruits and pHolage.

No More Diabetes and No More Hemochromatosis

Posted by luputtenan2

The following is an unsolicited testimony of two
pH Miracles - No more diabetes and No more
hemochromatosis.

-------------------------------------------------
Dear Dr. Young,

I wrote to you a few months ago sharing with you my
testimony on how my blood sugars were normalized after
following your advice in your book entitled, "The pH
Miracle for Diabetes." I write to you again to share
yet another pH Miracle....in November 2004 I was
diagnosed as a carrier of the genetic disorder of
hemochromatosis and the treatment recommended by my
hematologist were therapeutic phlebotomies. Since
November 2004, I've had a phlebotomy every 2 or 3
months, during this procedure I have anywhere
between 300 - 500 cc's of my blood removed!

Earlier this week, I had labwork to check my
ferritin level which would determine whether I
needed another phlebotomy, my results were miraculous!

For the first time in almost 4 years, I did not
need a phlebotomy! I will have labwork in 2 months,
by then it will have been a whole 6 months without
the need for a phlebotomy, a whole 6 months!
It's almost unbelievable!

I have continued to faithfully drink 2-3 liters of
my green drink which also contain the soy sprouts
powder and pH drops (I started my green drink in
Oct. 2007). When I first started with my green drink
I was afraid that all the greens would elevate my
iron levels and I would have to discontinue my
green drinks. Nevertheless, I continued and also
ate as many raw green veggies as possible everyday.

Dr. Young, my disorder is genetic and it appears
that by alkalizing my body I have reversed my genetics!
. . . . as far as hemochromatosis is concerned.......
which is truly a MIRACLE! I am so amazed in the
difference I not only see but feel within my alkalized
body.

I have been alkalizing since October 2007, the
changes are noticeable now and people are asking what
I am doing different. I have lost weight, gotten my
glucose level under control, I look and feel younger,
have renewed energy and now am positively transforming
my genetics!

My experiences in the last few months have indeed truly
been a pH Miracle! Dr. Young, you have been so
instrumental in helping me regain my health that I
felt that I needed to share this with you immediately!

Juanita Davila

"There is only one sickness and one health. The one
sickness is the over-acidification of the blood and
tissues due to an inverted way of living, eating and
thinking. The one health is to maintain the alkaline
design of the body by "alkalizing and exercising."(TM)

"The genetics can be changed when you change the
internal environment. This is a law of physics.
The only thing in life that is constant is change and
genetics can and do change," states Dr. Robert O. Young.

The Acid Nicotine In Tabacco and Chewing Gums Posion White Blood Cells

Posted by luputtenan2 on Wednesday, April 30, 2008

The acid nicotine, a component of tobacco smoke and
chewing gums, can make the body more prone to
out-fections and inflammation, a research team
has found.

The study, published in Cell Biology, was led by David
Scott, a University of Louisville oral health researcher.

Scott's team found that nicotine affects the production
of one type of white blood cells, one of the body's
primary defenses against infection and dis-ease. White
blood cells are produced out of red blood cells and body
cells and the cells mobilize in the bloodstream to
maintain cleanliness in the blood plasma and interstial
fluids of bacteria and yeast. The researchers learned
that white bllod cells tainted with nicotine were less
able to mobilize in order to collect bacteria and yeast
than white blood cells not exposed to the acid nicotine.

The researchers determined that the acid nicotine
suppresses an important cell function that helps mediate
bacteria and yeast and, at the same time, increases levels
of exotoxins and myctotoxins (acidic waste products from
bacteria and yeast) that promote the biological
transformation of healthy body cells and tissues.

"Both of these findings partially explain chronic tobacco
users' increased susceptibility to bacterial infection
and inflammatory diseases," said Scott.

Although nicotine has been known to affect the immune
response, this is the first study to examine how
nicotine affects production of bacteria-collecting cells
in the bone marrow and their mobilization into the
bloodstream.

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist
at the pH Miracle Living Center, "the acid nicotine
from tobacco or nicotine chewing gums will poison and
paralyze the white blood cells for up to five hours.
When white blood cells are poisoned and paralyzed they
cannot perform their normal activity of helping to
maintain fluid purity and alkalinity. This can then
cause increased acidic cellular debris in the body
fluids causing blood and lymphatic congestion leading
to poor circulation, light headedness, dizziness,
cold hands, cold feet, irritation, and inflammation.
If the white cells are suppressed on a regular basis
by continued use of nicotine containing products
this may lead to more serious acidic symptomologies
such as ulceration and degeneration of the tissues and
organs leading to heart dis-ease and cancerous conditions."

Pine Bark Reduces Inflammation and Pain

Posted by luputtenan2

More than 20 million Americans suffer from
osteoarthritis, with half a million Americans
having a total joint replacement each year.
A new study to be published in the April 2008
edition (Volume 22, issue No 4) of the journal
of Phytotherapy Research shows Pycnogenol
(pic-noj-en-all), an antioxidant plant extract
from the bark of the French maritime pine tree,
was shown to reduce all osteoarthritis symptoms
by 56 percent. The study revealed a particularly
high efficacy of Pycnogenol for lowering joint
pain by 55 percent. Moreover, patients required
dramatically less standard pain medication
(-58 percent), which greatly improved the
gastrointestinal complications resulting from
the pain medication by 63 percent.

"Pycnogenol seemed a natural fit for this study,"
said Dr. Gianni Belcaro, a lead researcher of
the study. "There are a few main components
contributing to the clinical picture of treatment
management in osteoarthritis: dietary and metabolic
acids that cause inflammation, is expressed in an
alteration of fatigue resistance and muscular
performance -- reversing and blocking the vascular
problems associated to altered mobility. Theoretically,
a treatment with a compound specifically active on
all those aspects could be highly effective, which
is why we chose Pycnogenol."

The randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled
study, held at Italy's Chieti-Pescara University,
sampled 156 patients with osteoarthritis of the
knee (OA). Patients were administered 100 mg
Pycnogenol or placebo, daily for three months.
Symptoms were evaluated by WOMAC index scores
and mobility by recording their walking
performance on a treadmill. Patients were
permitted to continue taking their choice
of pain medication provided they recorded
every tablet in a diary for later evaluation.

After three months, scores for acidic pain
dropped significantly for the Pycnogenol treatment
group and no significant effects were recorded
for the placebo group. Scores for acidic stiffness
were reduced by 53 percent. The scores for
physical function were reduced by 57 percent
in the Pycnogenol group and improvement under
placebo was not significant. The global WOMAC
score decreased following Pycnogenol treatment
and very little in the placebo group, from 56
percent vs. 9.6 percent for Pycnogenol and placebo,
respectively. Overall well-being of patients
(emotional function) was significantly enhanced
with the Pycnogenol group, by 64 percent and 15
percent for the placebo group.

Results of exercise tests on the treadmill
demonstrated an increased performance after
three months of Pycnogenol treatment. At the
start of the study, patients could only walk
a mean of 74 yards without feeling pain and
after three months, they could walk 216 yards,
compared to the placebo group that noted 71
yards at the beginning of the study and 96 yards
at the end.

Patients were allowed to use their regular
dosage of NSAIDS. Usage dropped by 58 percent
during treatment with Pycnogenol and one
percent with the placebo. Evaluation of data
demonstrated a decrease of gastrointestinal
complications of 64 percent in the Pycnogenol
group versus three percent in placebo.

"The results of this study are significant as
they clearly demonstrate the clinical action
of Pycnogenol on OA and management of symptoms.
The use of Pycnogenol many reduce costs and
side effects of anti-inflammatory agents
and offer a natural alternative solution to
people suffering from OA" said Dr. Belcaro.

Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at the
pH Miracle Living center states, "Pycnogenol is
one of many powerful antioxidants that will reduce
the pain associated with dietary and metabolic acids
and other symptoms of osteoarthritis. It's high
concentration of proanthocyanadins, a member of the
bioflavonoid family, is the natural active ingredient
that helps to mediate environmental, dietary and
metabolic acids that causes inflammation and pain in
the connective tissue, bones and muscles."

The Key To Preventing and/or Reversing Bone Loss

Posted by luputtenan2 on Tuesday, April 29, 2008

Women who have used Fosamax are nearly twice as
likely to develop the most common kind of
chronically irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation)
than are those who have never used it, according to
research from Group Health and the University of
Washington published in the April 28 Archives of
Internal Medicine.

Merck markets Fosamax, the most widely used drug
treatment for the bone-thinning disease osteoporosis,
explained study leader Susan Heckbert, MD, PhD, MPH,
a professor of epidemiology and scientific investigator
in the Cardiovascular Health Research Unit at the
University of Washington. The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) approved the first generic
versions (called alendronate) in February.

“We studied more than 700 female Group Health
patients whose atrial fibrillation was first
detected during a three-year period,” said
Dr. Heckbert. She and her colleagues compared
those women to over 900 randomly selected female
Group Health members matched on age and high blood
pressure to serve as controls.

“Having ever used alendronate was associated with
an 86 percent higher risk of newly detected atrial
fibrillation compared with never having used the
drug,” said Dr. Heckbert, who is also an affiliate
investigator at the Group Health Center for Health
Studies.

Osteoporosis mostly affects older women and can set
the stage for fractures that can impair the quality
of their lives, said Dr. Heckbert. “Careful judgment
is required to weigh the risks and benefits of any
medication for any individual patient,” she added.
“For most women at high risk of fracture, alendronate’s
benefit of reducing fractures will outweigh the risk
of atrial fibrillation.”

However, said Dr. Heckbert, “women who are at high
risk of fractures but also have risk factors for
atrial fibrillation — such as heart failure, diabetes,
or coronary disease — might want to discuss alternatives
to alendronate with their health care providers.”
Other medications that can lower the risk of fractures
include estrogen, she said. But the Women’s Health
Initiative, on which she has also served as an
investigator, showed other heart risks from hormone
therapy combining estrogen with progesterone.

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute funds
Dr. Heckbert’s Atrial Fibrillation Study, which
collects data on all Group Health patients as they
are first diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. The
study aims to find new factors that raise the risk
of developing this quivering of the heart’s upper
chambers (atria).

About one in 100 people — and nearly nine in 100
people over age 80 — have atrial fibrillation, said
Dr. Heckbert. In many cases, atrial fibrillation has
no symptoms, and it isn’t necessarily life threatening.
But it can cause palpitations, fainting, fatigue,
or congestive heart failure.

Atrial fibrillation can also make blood pool — and
sometimes clot — in the atria, said Dr. Heckbert.
When parts of clots break off and leave the atria,
they can lead to embolic strokes, as happens in
over 70,000 Americans a year. That’s why atrial
fibrillation is often treated unfortunately with
the acidic anticoagulant warfarin. Other results
from her study have suggested that maintaining a
healthy alkaline body weight may help protect
people from atrial fibrillation.

“This study will help medical teams better inform
their patients about the risks associated with Fosamax,
helping us make the best treatment decisions for
managing osteoporosis,” commented Christine Himes
Fordyce, MD, a Group Health family practitioner.
“Now with this increased understanding of potential
irregular heartbeats, both physicians and their
patients should be alert to any problems, report
them immediately, and treat them appropriately.”

According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research
scientist at The pH Miracle Living Center,
"osteoporosis is caused by dietary and metabolic
acids. The body with waste calcium from the
bones to buffer the acids not eliminated
through urination or defecation. Bone loss
is the evidence of an over-acidic body from
an inverted way of living, eating and thinking.
The key to preventing or reversing bone loss
is to alkalize and exercise."

Mercury in Drugs and Environment Linked To Autism

Posted by luputtenan2 on Sunday, April 27, 2008

How do mercury emissions affect pregnant mothers,
the unborn and toddlers? Do the level of emissions
impact autism rates? Does it matter whether a
mercury-emitting source is 10 miles away from
families versus 20 miles? Is the risk of autism
greater for children who live closer to the
pollution source?

A newly published study of Texas school district
data and industrial mercury-release data, conducted
by researchers at The University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio, indeed shows a
statistically significant link between pounds of
industrial release of mercury and increased autism
rates. It also shows -- for the first time in
scientific literature -- a statistically significant
association between autism risk and distance from
the mercury source.

"This is not a definitive study, but just one more
that furthers the association between environmental
mercury and autism," said lead author Raymond F.
Palmer, Ph.D., associate professor of family and
community medicine at the UT Health Science Center
San Antonio. The article is in the journal Health
& Place.

Dr. Palmer, Stephen Blanchard, Ph.D., of Our Lady
of the Lake University in San Antonio and Robert
Wood of the UT Health Science Center found that
community autism prevalence is reduced by 1 percent
to 2 percent with each 10 miles of distance from
the pollution source.

"This study was not designed to understand which
individuals in the population are at risk due to
mercury exposure," Dr. Palmer said. "However, it
does suggest generally that there is greater autism
risk closer to the polluting source."

"The study should encourage further investigations
designed to determine the multiple routes of
mercury exposure, including the many childhood
vaccinations that contain over 25 mcg. of mercury,
states Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist at
The pH Miracle Living Center.

"The effects of persistent, low-dose exposure to
mercury pollution, in addition to fish consumption,
deserve attention," Dr. Palmer said. "Ultimately,
we will want to know who in the general population
is at greatest risk based on genetic susceptibilities
such as subtle deficits in the ability to detoxify
heavy metals."

"We suspect low-dose exposures to various environmental
toxicants, including mercury, that occur during critical
windows of neural development among genetically
susceptible children may increase the risk for
developmental disorders such as autism," the authors
wrote.

Study highlights:

* Mercury-release data examined were from 39
coal-fired power plants and 56 industrial facilities
in Texas.

* Autism rates examined were from 1,040 Texas school
districts.

* For every 1,000 pounds of mercury released by all
industrial sources in Texas into the environment
in 1998, there was a corresponding 2.6 percent
increase in autism rates in the Texas school
districts in 2002.

* For every 1,000 pounds of mercury released by
Texas power plants in 1998, there was a corresponding
3.7 percent increase in autism rates in Texas school
districts in 2002.

* Autism prevalence diminished 1 percent to 2 percent
for every 10 miles from the source.

* Mercury exposure through fish consumption is well
documented, but very little is known about exposure
routes through air and ground water.

* There is evidence that children and other developing
organisms are more susceptible to neurobiological
effects of mercury.

"We need to be concerned about global mercury emissions
since a substantial proportion of mercury releases
are spread around the world by long-range air and
ocean currents," Dr. Palmer said. "Steps for
controlling and eliminating mercury pollution on
a worldwide basis may be advantageous. This entails
greener, non-mercury-polluting technologies."

Dr. Young states, "mercury is a major acidic
contributor to the body, especially the brain. A baby
would receive 25 µg of mercury in a single 0.5 ml
vaccination does of DPT which is 25 times greater then
the daily allowance of 1.0 µg for a baby that weighs
6 pounds."

"If 8 doses of thimerosal-containing vaccine were
given in the first 6 months of life (3 DPT, 2 HIB
and 3 Hepatitis B) the 200 µg of mercury given,
say an average size of 12 lbs would be about 87 times
greater the the daily allowance of 2.3 µg of mercury
for a baby of that size."

"There is no question in my mind that mercury or
thimerosal contained in many childhood vaccinations
and drugs is a primary contributor to autism in
children and should be avoided at all cost. The mercury
poisoning risk is far greater then the illusionary benefit
of the vaccination."

"There is no scientific proof of the safety
or the effectiveness of drugs and vaccinations.
According to the journal, BMJ Clinical Evidence,
about 2,500 drug treatments offered in
conventional medicine produce the following
results:

1) 13 percent are beneficial to the patient

2) 23 percent are likely to be beneficial

3) 8 percent is a trade-off between benefits
and harm

4) 6 percent are unlikely to be beneficial

5) 4 percent are likely to be ineffective or
harmful, and

6) 46 percent have unknown effectiveness.

There is a 64% risk that the drug or the vaccine
treatment you or your child receive will cause harm,
will be ineffective or may have unknown side-effects."

"The safe and effective way to have health, energy
and vitality is to simply maintain the alkaline
design of the body with an alkaline lifestyle and
diet."

"Health is all about maintaining the delicate alkaline
pH of the blood and tissues," states Dr. Young.
