The cure for cancer is not in its treatment
but is in its prevention.
The key to preventing cancer is to understand
what it is and what it is not.

Cancer is a consequence of choice!
When the body is not capable of removing
dietary, metabolic or environmental acids from
the body (mainly from the lack of energy) they
are parked in the fatty tissues away from the
organs that sustain life.

tissue and a perfect place to park excess

Birth Control Pills Are Acidic and May Cause Bone Loss

Taking oral contraceptives can lower a young women’s
bone density according to research by LMU Professor
of Natural Science Hawley Almstedt and Oregon State
University Professor of Natural Science
Christine M. Snow.
This is the first study to analyze 18-25 year
old women oral contraceptives and bone density.
It is critical for women to develop strong bone
mass during their adolescence. Although women’s
peak bone development occurs at the age of 16,
women’s bones are still developing during their
late teens and early twenties.
Oral contraceptives create a barrier in young women’s
bodies, affecting their ability to fully develop
high bone mass. Therefore, women who take birth
control pills between 18 and 25 will have lower bone
density than those women who do not take oral
contraceptives, according to the study.
Why do oral contraceptives cause bone loss?
Because, oral contraceptives are acidic and can
compromise the delicate alkaline pH balance of
the body fluids causing the release of calcium ions
from the bones to buffering the increased acidity
from the drug. This happens as a natural response
to increased acidity to maintain the delicate pH
of the blood at 7.365.
The increased acidity in the blood and tissues from
the oral contraceptives leads to low bone density which
could then lead to Osteoporosis, a skeletal disease,
affecting 44 million people in the United States, 80
percent of who are women. One of the best ways to
prevent Osteoporosis is to for the body to build high
bone mass during youth with a high pH alkaline diet of
green foods and green drinks. Exercise and nutritional

also critical factors that influence peak bone mass.
The research examined 98 women in two groups; those who
took oral contraceptives and those who did not. The
researchers measured the women’s bone density at the
hip, whole body and spine by Dual-energy x-ray
absorptiometry.
Their research, titled “Oral contraceptives use in young
women is associated with lower bone mineral density
than that of controls,” was published in “Osteoporosis
International.”

Taste for Healthful Foods Starts in Womb

Mothers can give their kids a leg up on health
from the womb to the tomb by giving them a taste
for nutritious alkaline but kid-hated foods like
spinach and broccoli before they are even born!
The only thing moms have to do is eat such alkaline
foods themselves during pregnancy, or barring that,
eat them while breast-feeding, according to the
Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia.
"Flavors from the mother's diet are transmitted
through amniotic fluid and mother's milk," said
Julie Mennella, a researcher at the Monell center.
"A baby learns to like a food's taste when the
mother eats that food on a regular basis."
Experiments showed, for instance, that when pregnant
women drank carrot juice, their babies liked carrots
better than the babies of mothers who had not. In
another test, babies who were still breast-feeding
but also eating solids at first rejected green beans
until their mothers began eating them and transmitting
the flavor of the beans in their milk.
"Babies are born with a dislike for bitter tastes,"
said Menella. "If mothers want their babies to
learn to like to eat vegetables, especially green
vegetables, they need to provide them with
opportunities to taste these foods."

Alkaline Tips for the Holidays

Some studies indicate that death rates from heart
attacks and stroke as well as non-heart-related
causes spike during the holiday season. Researchers
have coined this phenomenon "Merry Christmas Coronary
and Happy New Year Heart Attack." I refer to it
as, "I ate and drank too much acid heart attack."
"It is not uncommon to see a heavier congestion
in the hospital during the Christmas and New Year's
period of time. Some years that's very true, but
some years it's quiet," said cardiologist
Keith Churchwell, M.D., associate director of
the Vanderbilt Heart and Vascular Institute.
A national database with detailed information on
the 53 million deaths that occurred in the United
States between 1973 and 2001 show that deaths from
heart disease peak in December/January, with spikes
on Christmas and New Year's Day.
There are several possible reasons for the spike.
People who are having symptoms of heart trouble
prior to the holiday season tend to delay going
to the doctor.
"They do so because of obligations at home, not
wanting to spoil holiday fun, not wanting to deal
with the possibility of going to the hospital and
being taken care of over the holiday period."
"As a result, they are less likely to see their
physicians over this period of time in order to
get the acute care they may need."
In addition, some people view the holidays as a
reason to take a break from their exercise and
diet programs.
"Some people have spent a significant amount of
time over the year trying to meet their cardiovascular
goals and when the holidays arrive, they fall off
their programs."
"There are many explanations for this. It's the
holiday time, you get very busy, the amount of time
you spend eating out and eating over at friends and
family becomes more than usual. Finding excuses not
to stay on an exercise regimen becomes easier to do."
It is not uncommon for people to drink more alcohol
at the holidays, which can contribute to what is
known as "holiday heart syndrome."
"Alcohol has a toxic effect on the heart muscle in
a number of different ways but in particular it
can lead to an irritation of the heart muscle,
particularly the top chamber of the heart --
the atrium," Churchwell said. "This can lead to
atrial fibrillation -- an abnormal heart rhythm
that is a classic finding of holiday heart."
Churchwell advises his patients to enjoy the holidays,
but to try to integrate the heart healthy habits they
have in place with the activities of the holidays.
"If you've been taking a daily walk, then that's a walk
you can take with your family before or after the holiday
dinner," he said. "After the holidays it's difficult to
get back to your regular exercise and diet routine,
and that puts you weeks and months behind what was,
hopefully, a very good regimen of decreasing your
cardiovascular risk with exercise, diet and risk
modification."
Cindy Osborn, a clinical dietitian with the Vanderbilt
Heart and Vascular Institute, said that an eight to 10
pound weight gain over the holidays is not uncommon.
The typical holiday meal has between 2,800 and 3,300
calories, she said.
"This would be equivalent to two day's worth of calories
for a woman who was trying to lose weight," Osborn said.

Drugs For Diabetes May Increase Bone Loss and Osteoporosis

The popular diabetes drug marketed as Avandia
may increase bone thinning, a discovery that
could help explain why diabetics who take acidic
drugs can have an increased risk of fractures.
New research raises the possibility that long-term
treatment with Rosiglitazone, as Avandia,
could lead to osteoporosis. This acidic diabetes drug
is used to improved response to insulin.
While bones seem solid, they constantly are being
broken down and rebuilt by the body. Researchers have
found that in mice, the acidic nature of this drug
increased the activity of the cells that degrade bones,
according to a report in this week's online issue of
Nature Medicine.
Avandia recently was labeled with warnings about the
risk of heart failure in some patients. GlaxoSmithKline,
which markets the drug, already has acknowledged that
a study found a higher risk of fractures among women
who take the drug. But this report is the first link
between acidic drugs and bone loss and fractures.
The finding "has led to a better understanding of the
challenges associated with long-term treatment of
patients with Type II diabetes," said Ronald M. Evans
of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in
La Jolla, Calif., lead author of the report.
"It also provides a basis for the development of
a 'next generation' of drug that can specifically
dial out this side effect and a new insight into
a previously unrecognized aspect of bone physiology
that has important medical consequences," he said in
an interview via e-mail.
Nearly 21 million people in the United States
are doing diabetes. The acidic drug Rosiglitazone
is widely used in people with Type II, or adult onset
diabetes, the most common form of the dis-ease.
Evans said the discovery was fortuitous. Researchers
were looking at different aspects of the diabetic
mice and did not realize they would be able to change
the bone-removing activity.
The assumption had been that more brittle bones in
diabetics were the result of a reduced bone-building
activity, not increased bone removal.
"Considering the widespread use of these acidic drugs
and the known action in people it is surprising that
such a key observation had been missed," he said.
"The long-term use of Rosiglitazone should be cautious
in patients with higher risk of fractures such as
older women," he added. Using it in combination
with anti-osteoporosis drugs could be beneficial,
he said.
According to Dr. Robert O. Young, a research scientist,

bone mass in diabetics is due to several factors,
including an acidic diet, acidic drugs, salt
deficiency, low levels of Omega 3 oils, lack of
hydration and exercise to remove metabolic acids, and
